“Will def return!”
Reviewed 31 July 2012

Stayed here for a week in July 2012, had a ball. Staff very friendly, pool small but with only 19 appartments was perfect and very clean.

Appartment its self was clean, very basic but thats normal for self catering, well with in walking distance to supermartkets and main centre so was very easy to pick up what we needed for our stay, also has a small shop with necessaties in reception so was no problem at all. Cant wait to return, had a lovely holiday and will def stay at the Monte Verde again.

Room Tip: Ask for an extra pillow or bring your own!!!!

we spent 2 weeks in monte verde apts last nov. ideal for people who want a quite peaceful apt ,but only minutes from the centre of the resort if you want night life .Pool small but clean and as we were only a short walk from the beach this was not a problem .The apts were clean and the owner helpful .These apts are ideal for a budget holiday and a reasonable price for apts at the lower level of the resort where you do not have to rely on buses or taxi's to get home .supermarket nearby. We will hopefully be back soon .

booked this on the Wed before flying on Sat and hadnt any expectations as it was a really cheap holiday and having read the reviews i can agree with most of them. Spotlessly clean place, plenty of room, and generally nice quiet place and area. Would prefer if a oven was included (apart from having to rent a microwave) and the beda are not comfortable - bit too rigid. Otherwise one could not fault it as its not expensive to stay here and "does exactly what it says on the tin". Cleaninless if always up on the top of the wish list when travelling and Monte Verde certaily ticks the box's here. Owner very friendly and facilitating.

Room Tip: If you plan to eat in apt you may wish to bring some extras from home with you as only basic items i...

Myself and my partner just back from a week in Monte Verde apartments (10-17 March 2012)

The apartments are situated up a small incline behind the post office and bus station. Next door to Corona Cederal. About 5 mins walk down to the centre of the resort and the beach. No taxi required unless u very disabled! Great location.

We arrived at the apt at around 8pm. Carmello, who lives on the premises, a lovely man, checked everybody in with no bother. Safe hire for the week was €10 and this is in the apt in the wardrobe. There was a kettle and toaster in the apt and these are free but u can hire a microwave, hair dryer, laptop, etc. etc. for a small fee. There is a TV in the room which is coin fed. It says on the notice that you get an hour for one Euro but this is not the case. The Euro ran out after about 25 mins. We had ITV, BBC 1, BBC News, Sky News, C4 and some other Muslim station I think but we did not watch TV too much anyway.

Apartments were spotless and bed linen and towels clean and freash. Can't understand other comments on this site complaining about them but sure you can't please everybody all of the time!

There is a small shop in reception selling basics (bread, butter, water, toiletries) which was great as we did not have to haul water up from the resort centre. Also his sun tan lotion much cheaper than shops in the resort. Factor 10 Nivea €8 in his shop whereas it was €14 in the Spar.

We had apt 206 on the second floor. The balcony is very large with two sun beds so you can sun bathe on the balcony all day. Sun goes off the balcony around 4pm. Apartments at the other end (210) have sun until about 5pm. There is also a clothes line and a table and some chairs on the balcony. There is a large umbrella there too but we closed it down for the duration of the holiday as it is so large it blocks out the light in the apartment. Also a pull out clothes line.

Bedroom has two single beds. If u push the beds together there is very little space to get out of the bed either side so beware. Plenty of hangers in the wardrobe and a shelf and a vanity mirror. The living area consists of breakfast counter, 3 stools, ample crockery (mugs which were great instead of the tiny cups u normally get in apartments), cutlery and the usual array of pots and pans. We ate out all the time so never used them. The fridge is normal standard size.

The bathroom had a toilet and shower cubicle (no bath). However, the hot water ran out after about 2 mins in the shower. There is a water heater in the cupboard in the kitchen which has to be turned to max to get hot water. However, it was a case of getting into the shower, washing hair and body and turning the hot water on and off to reserve it for the next person. It was a bit crazy. It took about 40 mins to heat up again. The stopper in the bathroom sink did not work as it was too small resulting in the water draining out as soon as you filled the sink so my partner had difficulty shaving but sure it was fine.

The towels were changed 3 times during our week long stay. I found no problem with them at all. There were white and fluffy and looked very new. There were some comments on this site about them being terrible but we found them perfect. Our bed linen was changed once. No cleaners on Sunday or Wednesday. We never saw a cleaner at all during our stay although our apt was cleaned. We are beach lovers so had gone out of the apt before 10am.

The pool is tiny but we never used it. Unfortunately there are a lot of trees overlooking the pool and the leaves etc, from them ended up in the pool making it look dirty. There are only about 6 sun beds at the pool and I never saw anybody using them. The apartments on 2nd and 3rd floor have beds on the balcony which is probably why.

Room tip: Try and get an apt on 2nd or 3rd floor for the above reason. Also much more private than ground floor. I emailed Carmello before we went requesting a second floor apartment which we got. Email address reception@monteverdeapartments.com

Check out time is 11am but we were allowed to stay until midday which was ok as we had booked a taxi for 3pm so not too much hanging around.

The weather was not great for our week long stay (10th-17th March). Gran Canaria experiencing the worst weather since 1940! Nights were cold (8-10 degrees) and temp during the day never going over 20/21 degrees.

Shopping Centre a bit of a dump so we did not go up there too often. Would recommend San Miguel restaurant there if you hungry as portions are HUGE. Don Quixote on the marina brilliant restaurant. Food to die for and very reasonable. You must book and they not open on Sundays. The Greek Restaurant in the Pasarella Shopping Centre (down the far end of the beach passed El Greco) fabulous food and well worth a visit.

The only tiny complaint I would have is we having to vacate apartment on last day and not being able to hold onto it for a few more hours. We were told it would cost €20 to keep if complex not booked out but unfortunately it was. There was no toilet to use except the one in the “courtesy room” which unfortunately was taken over by a couple who spent over an hour in it. They were none too pleased when I knocked on the door requesting to use the toilet! There were no towels provided for it either so if u plan on using the courtesy room bring a towel with you. I thought it strange that no toilet at pool area so if u needed the loo at the pool you had to go back to your apartment. there is no pool bar or any other entertainment in the complex which we found brilliant as no racket at night when u trying to sleep. Probably why there is no toilet there.

All in all we enjoyed our stay there and would have no hesitation in returning.

Room Tip: Try and get an apartment on 2nd Floor. Huge balconies and a lot more private than ground floor.

Ignore any poor comments about these Appartments previous to this date (14th January 2012)...
Would highly recommend these apartments to anyone who is looking for clean and friendly self catering accommodation in Puerto Rico. The place was spotless when we arrived. It has a large balcony facing sun all day, where 2 adults can easily sunbathe. Less than a 5 min walk to central areas. We had a great time in Puerto Rico, but more suited for relaxed holidays for any aged couples. Might not suit disco or clubbers looking for a mad night out. Highly recommend Monte Verde Appartments!

We stayed there at the end of November for 2 weeks. The apartment was great value, very clean and well furnished, it was on the groundfloor by the pool and it was big enough, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, tv with english channels, kettle, toaster, big fridge, 4 ring cooker, air conditioning, safety box, WI-FI, .... We expected the standard and small apartment in Puerto Rico so It was a nice surprise.

The complex was very quiet and safe, even the gate needed a key to get into the complex. It is run by a local family and the son lives there and works in reception, He was very friendly and helpful. You can hire an iron or a hairdryer for 5 euros and you can use the washing machine or the computer for some cents. The best..., its location near the Post Office with the bus and taxi stop just around the corner. It takes 5 minutes to get to the beach or to the bars and restaurants in the shopping centre. We had no problems with towels as someone has stated, they seemed to be brand new and were changed every 2 days. The swimming pool was small but we didn´t use it.

Being honest for the money we paid, it was great. We knew it wouldnt be luxury so we don´t have any complaint (well,.... breakfast should be included to be perfect). The weather was fantastic, blue sky and sun shine every day. Overall I had a great stay and would return to Monteverde Apartments in the future.

My husband and I stayed here in October 2011 for a week. Ideal accommodation if you are self-catering. Very tidy and clean. Two single beds in bedroom, decent sized wardrobes. Standard shower and toilet (no window). Small kitchenette with fridge (small freezer), kettle, cutlery and crockery provided. Examples of extras for rent are iron, air-conditioning, meter to watch t.v and safe. Location near to Puerto Rico town centre/shopping centre, restaurants and beaches. Request upper level apartment if possible as you will have your own balcony. There is three levels in this building. Small swimming pool on ground level at front of apartments. Secure property plus you are given your own key to gain access in and out.
The only flaws I will point out is the bed linen and bathroom towels need to be up dated. It is very obvious the towels have being recycled too many times. So, bring your own bathroom towel and maybe hand towel. Another small flaw is the cleaning staff could be friendlier. However, maybe this is to do with the language barrier. Overall I`d still reccomend it.

Room Tip: Upper level room with own balcony.
