“All about location in Peurto Rico and this takes beating”
Reviewed 3 October 2012

If you haven't been to Peurto Rico before then be very careful when you're booking. Like many locations in the Canary Islands, Peurto Rico is on many diferent levels and if you book a hotel on one of the higher levels then you are in for an awful lot of hiking up and down hills and or a lot of taxi rides. I met one couple who had to climb 150 steps up to their hotel - not for me.

That's why it will be very hard to beat the Rio Piedras as the location really is outstanding. You are on the lowest level, only four or five minutes walk to the main beach, which is really nice by the way.
You are also less than ten minutes walk from many of the Island's nicest restaurants, like Oscars and in the opposite direction no more than about a twelve minutes from the main shopping centre which is jam packed with bars and restaurants.

The appartments themselves are vey spacious, spotlessly clean and many of them (as ours did) have massive balconies with a beautiful sea view (ask for this when booking).
The pool is on the roof and there was never an issue wth lack of space or sunbeds, also a very nice bar/restaurant at poolside.

All in all I would really reccomend the Rio Piedras and would certainly go back - also great value for money - check it out.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a seaview and a large balcony

We thought this hotel was a good hotel. It was in a very good location, minutes from the beach, 15 mins stroll up to the restuarants and bars. Hotel didnt have any A.C but a fan was provided.
The Hotel wifi wasnt the best but then there were different bars that had it.
Would definetly go and stay there again as the view was stunning and the Pool was at the top of the hotel so the sun was up there all day. Great choice. Staff were very friendly and polite.

We stayed at this hotel a few years ago and vowed to return. It was a good as ever. Location, location, location - it just couldn't be better. It overlooks the La Mar Beach Club and towards the beach. The commercial centre is a nice stroll away, so no noise problems here unless there is a party at La Mar Beach Club which we did have one day/night, not been a moaner but it was loud - they had quite a few complaints from what the manager said. The staff here are fantastic, they try their hardest to accomodate any special requests and speak such good English. Awesome balcony's with sunloungers and an umberella. Room was cleaned 5 times a week, this was left on a note in the room on what days towels and sheets were changed - so no confusion there. Nice touch when we arrived of a bottle of water, bottle of red wine and a cake.
Everything you need in this apartment inc a kettle, microwave, toaster - even an oven if you wish to self cater. Rooms are spacious, plenty of wardrobe space and loads of hot water - never ran out once. No aircon, but a portable floor fan at no charge. Safe in the room for 10euros which was returned to us upon leaving. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel - wish I was there right now !

Room Tip: Ring the hotel in advance if you have any special requests.

Before we went we were concerned by what people had told us about Puerto Rico being so hilly, we were worried about being in a hotel near the top away from the beach.
We weren't disappointed, the hotel couldn't be placed in a better spot, not sat on top of the beach but just a short stroll down a quiet road to it.
The hotel itself is very clean, well kept and the rooms are a nice size also the balcony's we had speak for themselves, they were much bigger than any other hotel we'd stayed in.
The pool being on the roof is fantastic as the views from up there are sensational, especially at night!
Overall a great family orientated hotel in a superb location, thumbs up from us!

Great location, very close to beach and at the bottom of the hill! Close to bars and restaurants too. Was disappointed at the fact that there was no air conditioning but this is something I should´ve checked before booking! Also disappointed with the food and prices in the poolside bar. Room cleaned most days.

I stayed here quite a while ago with my family and had a wonderful stay.

The pool was the highlight! A glorious rooftop pool with some truly breathtaking views of Puerto Rico. The rooms were basic and nice with kitchenettes for self catering, though we ate out every night and just cooked breakfast in the rooms, which was great, the balcony was absolutely massive too and we watched a lovely storm from there. Next to the pool is a pool bar with a selction of drinks and food.

We didn't have air con, so this was a problem for us, making night times very hot and uncomfortable.

The hotel is situated in a nice enough place and Puerto Rico is accesable and I would advise you to venture out the the reatauraunts and shops to pick up some lovely keep sakes.

Just be aware of the cockroaches, I won't lie, there are loads! Both in the resort and the hotel rooms, but the Canary Islands are famous for them so what do you expect?
