Stayed here for a week and found the accommodation fairly basic but comfortable. Arrived to find that they were full up as someone hadn't left, so we were moved to the hotel next door (much to our displeasure as we paid for a seaview). Ended up there for 2 nights until we could move back. The staff were apologetic about this and we probably got a better room for it (if you can get an apartment at the top) plus a free safe.

We paid for bed and breakfast but this was provided by the hotel next door - all you get is a greasy fried breakfast with tea or coffee so personally i'd avoid.

The hotel itself is ok, our room had a nice private balcony, comfortable living room with small tv, basic kitchen, small but adequate bathroom (don't expect to have a bath unless you're less than 4 feet tall though!) and a nice sized bedroom with comfortable beds. The swimming pool area was nice with plenty of sun during the day, and the pool clean although a little bit on the cold side at times!

The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk up the side of a hill so you do need to be fairly active to do this everyday, especially when it's hot (unless you plan on getting a taxi). We tended to walk in the day and got a taxi up every night which costs around 3 euros (there are plenty of taxis in the town centre). Of course this has it's advantages as you get great views plus it's nice and quiet.

Puerto Rico itself is an ok resort, it basically consists of 100's of hotels lining the hill sides, a couple of beaches and a main shopping center (which we dubbed 'Blackpool' due to it being all lit up at night). Here there are lots of shops, bars and restaurants. The food there was a bit and miss, i'd recommended eating in the restaurants next to the beach/harbour area, or catch the bus to the next resort 'Mogan' where the food is very good, especially the fish.

All in all it was a nice holiday but i was ready to leave after a week. If you're looking for a cheap and comfortale hotel and don't plan on spending much time at your accommodation then Aquasol will suit.

Me and my husband went on our first holiday here together, ok not a fanatastic place to take what I suppose was our honeymoon but it was a last minute thing and I like puerto rico. Firstly we were very happy with the aquasol, yes the rooms are basic but if you pay next to nothing you are not going to be staying in a 5* hotel, the rooms were clean, the shower was very good almost better than my electric one at home and there was not one bug in sight! Our balconey was huge!! with fantastic views! yes it is at the top of a hill but most of the hotels in puerto rico are built into the hills but its only a ten minute walk down to the centre and less than 3euro in a taxi back. The pool area was a very good sun trap and clean we met some lovely guests while sunbathing. The poor bar is not the best but the hotel next door has a supermarket and a better diner (its also cheaper). All in all we had an amazing holiday and are booking here again for aug with friends!!! p.s the hotel nest door is a thomas cook one and we were able to book trips through them.

Travelled with my friend for a week of relaxation, couldn't get much better for the money it only cost £199 each including flights and transfers. The apartments could do with a bit of an upgrade, the enamel was off the bath and a few other little things but overall it was ok I have stayed in a lot worse. The cleanliness could not be faulted clean and tatty would best discribe them.

Our apartment was on the same level as the pool, 4 floors down from the entrance. It was very secure, fobs to open the main entrance door to the complex and cc cameras every where. The views were fab overlooking the harbour. ONly one problem the bar up there only opened from 9 til 5 and there wasn't much in the way of food to buy there it seemed as if they were running the bar/restaurant side of it down.

You can walk into the centre in about 15 to 20 minutes all down hill, and a taxi costs around 2,5 to 3 euros to get back up.

all in all very good value and I would stay there again.

We stayed at the Aquasol Aparthotel from Feb 9th to 16th 2010.

The room was basic and clean. don’t go expecting anything posh, this is about as basic as it gets, but it’s only a 2 key hotel and we didn’t pay much to stay so our expectations we not that high, especially after reading some of the other customer reviews. However we were very happy with the apartment, flatscreen TV, kitchenette, bathroom/shower and twin bed room. It was cleaned three times in the week we were there. We did not see any ants or cockroaches.

Speaking to the helpful lady at reception (Adriana) she told me that they had recently spent a lot of money on updating security. There was a key fob only entry on to the hotel grounds, CCTV cameras everywhere and a safe in the wardrobe in you room.

The location of the hotel is at the top of a hill, its about a 15-20 min walk up the hill from the shops or a 3euro taxi trip. There are some steps going straight down to the bottom near the hotel, but it not for the faint hearted coming back up that way! Some people may not like the idea of going up a hill, but we liked it as it meant the hotel was away from all the hustle and bustle and noise from the main town. Plus the views were great! We got the sun all day too.

The resort of Puerto Rico is good, there’s a main square in the middle where all the shops, bars and restaurants are. The beach is OK, Playa de Amadores is just around the next bay and is far better.
Its worth taking the boat trip to Puerto Mogan at is much more upmarket and newer, but I would avoid the Friday market as its mostly useless tat and fake t-shirt & handbags.

Now, a word about the cats! You need to decide on day one whether or not you are going to feed them. Because take it from me once you feed them (or the wife does!) you wont get rid of them. To the point where they will come in to your apartment or try to get up on to the table if your eating outside. Also once your room is established as a food source there are nightly territorial cat fights outside your room at 4am. So please FEED THEM AT YOUR PERIL!

We went to Aquasol in February, it was quiet as probably only 1/3 to 1/2 the room were taken. I would go there again at that time of year as it was relaxing and still plenty of sun. However I’m not so sure if I would go there at the height of summer with all the rooms full.

The hotel is located at the top of a rather steep hill which boasts fantastic views, it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the main resort, we didn't attempt the return journey!!!! (Taxi was about 3 Euro)

The accomodation was clean although pretty basic and had a shortage of hot water, the pool area and bar were fine and reasonably priced, we didn't eat at the bar as we were we're advised by guests not too.

All considered the stay was value for money
