Just got back from a weeks stay in the Babalu. I go to Puerto Rico every year so knew what to expect. You get what you pay for. We arrived quite late and was greeted by an unfriendly man on reception who didn't seem like he really wanted to help us! Not a good first impression! Rooms are very basic and could do with an upgrade however they did the job for us as we just wanted somewhere to sleep. We were on the bottom floor near to the pool which we wasn't happy about at first but it worked out better for us in the end because it was easy to pop into the room when we wanted a break from the pool. We used the pool bar on a couple of occasions for both food and drinks and found it reasonable. The pool area is lovely. Never had a problem getting sunbeds. Getting into the pool is not for the faint hearted as it is freezing! The location of the Babalu is good with the europa centre just across the road. There are many bars and resturants here to try however we preferred to get at 4 euro taxi to the main commercial centre where there is a better atmosphere in my opinion. We found the resort really quiet especially in the nights. Already booked to go back in September :)

While the rooms could use a bit of TLC (cracked tiles and chipped paint) they were clean and comfy. The pool bar was great for a quick breakfast and a cuppa coffee and the location was perfect for our trip as we had business in the top center. Every thing you need is right across the street and it's a cheap taxi ride to the bottom center.

We are just back from a week at the babalu apartments and it was ok! the pool area is nice, the rooms are dated and very basic (no kettle, no toaster) the balconys are big but no sun loungers just table and chairs, also no air conditioning in march it was stuffy so In the summer months I'd say it's unbearable. the babalu is very high up so we walked down to puerto rico town but would be too steep to walk back up, the Europa centre is across the road with plenty of pubs restaurants and shops so there's things to do,also we had a late flight home but there was no baggage area to leave our bags we could just leave them in the reception which I didn't really feel comfortable doing, overall I probably wouldn't stay here again I would stay in the lower levels of peurto rico it is a lovely place and will definitely be back.

All apartments have pool and sea view and 2 mins across the road is the Europa centre. Loads of shops and restaurants. There is a take away shop on the 2nd floor which was good for self catering. Pool bar is good.
We will book and be back next year. The weather was excellent.
Rooms were large as was the balcony.

You see some peoples reviews on here and start to dread the holiday you have waited so long for.......... I had nothing to worry about!
YES the apartment was basic but you get what you pay for! it was also very clean, gorgeous views and very polite staff our room was cleaned every day except Sunday and the maid was extremely well presented and polite. The Bar staff too were friendly and helpful.
We will definitely be staying here again!
We stayed in Feb which is when the Scandinavians like to holiday, id say that at that time of year they accommodate for them as there are more of them there, next time I think we would go a little later in the year.
A few places I realy liked:
Palmitos Park - Brilliant day out!!
M&M Bar down in the Commercial Centre offering 1 euro a pint and imported spirits for 2 euros, well worth an evening down there!!
Also went to the market at mogan, was a really nice town but I didn't like the grabbing of the stall holders trying to get you to buy their things, I know they are harmless but after the first few they really annoyed me.

We walked to Amadoras Beach, well worth the walk there, had some gorgeous cocktails in a place called Irish Cottage which was very nice :)

Already looking at holidays to come back here next year!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 114, it got the sun in the mornings all the way round to about 4pm, was very nice :)
