“Very satisfying in most accounts”
Reviewed 13 February 2014 via mobile

I was there with my wife and our 2 year old.

Positive:
+Nice playground for kids
+Very clean and beautiful pool area
+Location - close to everything and almost at sea level
+Big suites
+Friendly and helpful staff
+ Easy to find (paid) parking nearby

Negative:
-Cleaning was a bit superficial - they evidently wiped the sofa table but glass stains etc remained. Same with the dishes, lip stains etc could still be seen after they cleaned the glasses.
-No sun on the balcony until around 4 in the afternoon (our apartment faced SW, they also had apartments facing SE, which had a lot more sun)
-Hard beds. (It got better when we complained and got top mattresses delivered).
-Single beds. Why do you get two single beds pushed together when you book a double room? It should be a real king size bed!

All in all we were rather satisfied, and we might go back to the same hotel next time.

We stayed here for the first week of February to get some winter sun. We booked a 1 bedroom apartment for 2 of us with breakfast included. Our apartment was very nice with a large living space, separate bedroom and a big balcony overlooking the marina. It was lovely to sit and watch the sun go down with a drink on the balcony. Everything was very clean and the maid service very efficient. The free wifi was excellent. The beds were comfortable.

Like people have said before there is a 4eu per day charge for the safe, and a 20 eu refundable deposit for pool towels which doesn't seem to fit with a 4 star rating. The public areas and pool were lovely and very clean. There were lots of sunbeds beside the pool and around the grounds. There is a nice area on the rocks where you can sit by the waters edge.

Breakfast was served in the poolside restaurant. Service was good and tables were cleared quickly. There was a great machine for squeezing orange juice. There was a good selection but the hot items weren't as good. We ate in the restaurant one evening but it was an oriental themed buffet which wasn't very good although the house wine was reasonable and nice quality.

The area around is nice and quiet and on the level ( many other apartment blocks are up steep stairs / hillsides ). There's a small supermarket about 5 minutes away and the main shopping centre is about 15 - 20 minutes walk.

The only negative was that it wasn't really equipped for proper self catering. There was a kettle, coffee machine and toaster but only 1 socket to plug them into. There were some pans and a couple of knives but no dish towels or strainers for veg or pasta. Still it looked by far the best option in the resort. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Stayed for a week in August 2012 - self catering apartment - big and clean with great views over the harbour!

The local area isn't much to rave about... Not a lot of nice restaurants around! Restaurants on the beach were full of stray cats!! We went to Amadores beach club restaurant 3 times during our stay - great food but at a small price! Defenatly worth it!

The only downside was the pool area - although the infinity pool had great views over the harbour and sea the sun loungers were crammed together so you could hardly move! Not a very relaxing area especially with a small pool full of children!

Stayed here in January. The hotel is in a lovely peaceful position with views over the sea and the harbour. All the rooms have views either out to sea or over the harbour. We went bed and breakfast. The breakfast had a good choice with something for everyone. The pool was supposed to be heated but the heating was broken however if you go in the pool about 3.30 in the afternoon it was warmer. The only real drawback we found was that as all the floors are marble you got very bad echos of anything being moved in other rooms or the maids 'talking' to each other or anyone talking to each other! The reception staff are helpful and it is only a 10 minute walk into town. The ferrys to Puerto Morgan and the organised boat trips are 2 mins walk away. I wouldnt reccomend the food in the restaurants on the beach but the beer is cheap at only €1.50 a pint! Would go again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room 6 floors or above to get the best view. 622 was a good room with nice views over the...

The location, spaciousness and comfort of the apartments, helpfulness of the staff, and the wonderful (heated) infinity pool, will all ensure that this place is at the top of any poll. So, why do I give it such a low score? Simply because we booked it on the assumption that it would give us self-catering options, and it does nothing of the sort.

Firstly, the apartment we had was around 70 square metres. If you look in any estate agents window, you will discover that most builders would comfortably fit a two-bedroom apartments into this space, with a full-size kitchen. Why then provide such is miserly little kitchette into our one-bedroom apartment.

The answer is simple, they are not expecting you to cook in it. Above the two hot plates (there is no oven, merely a microwave) there is a bizarre sign telling you that the hob is only designed for 'short heatings' (sic) of no more that ten minutes, and that to exceed this time would cause 'overheating of all structure of the kitchen, with risk for the user' (sic).

I don't know what manufacturer of kitchen equipment would make anything to such a daft specification . . . Still less do I understand why anyone would buy it, and install it into an apartment for self-catering use. The poor selection of kitchen equipment reinforces the view that these are not really self-catering apartments.

Also, be aware that additional charges such as parking outside the hotel (10 euros a day!) and charges for safe etc can soon add up.

This is our third stay at the Marina Suites hotel. As usual we had a great time, this time also with grandparents in addition to my wife and I with our two small kids (4 years old and 7 months old).

We had select rooms with a view of the pool area, which are the by far best rooms in the hotel, with sun from around 11 to late afternoon at the balcony. The rooms are very spacious, and we especially enjoyed the microwave oven for warming food for our baby. The food (half pension) was great as usual, and the staff was very helpful. We also enjoyed the kids club very much for our 4 year old daughter who spent a lot of time there with very nice staff (Alexandra&Julian). Also the cleaning staff was very friendly and did a thorough job cleaning the rooms.

On the down side, the elevators are probably the most irritating thing in this hotel. There are only 3 small elevators, which are usually full, so you have to wait for some time to get a free one or stand very tightly together with others taking the same elevators. Also the water in the shower is a bit unstable at times, so you really have to watch out for the water suddenly turning very hot (or cold) when you take a shower.

But looking aside from the few negative elements, we strongly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to have a good holiday in Puerto Rico.

Room Tip: Get a select room on one of the high floors facing south (towards the pool area)

Very clean, lovely staff. Will be returning next year, we went bed and breakfast which was excellent very good choice. The only thing I would say is if your planning to eat in your apartment ( cabin as they call them ) the kitchen facilities are very poor only 2 Hobs no grill or oven there is a microwave and hob only heats up for 10 mins so would struggle to cook anything but putting that aside a very very pleasent holiday and am very much looking to go back. I must mention swimming pool it was fantastic. Thanks Marina suites for a fantastic holiday very very highly recommended
