“Worth staying at for the view alone”
Reviewed 2 July 2012

We arrived at the hotel after mid-night and were worried about not getting checked in because of their reception hours, however this presented no issue to us as the reception had left an envelope with our name and a key on at the door. We took our passports for 'check-in' in the morning. The staff were friendly.

We booked a room with a pool and sea-view which was exactly what we got and the view of Amadores beach was nothing short of fantastic and far better than the view that we had staying at a different hotel in the same area. Very large terrace, with table and chairs. Full sun on terrace all day and stunning sunsets to watch at night. The apartment itself was in need of updating, i.e, walls could do with a lick of paint and couches could do with replacing, but all useful amenities were provided, coffee machine, toaster, big fridge/freezer, flat screen TV that you do not have to pay to watch. Comfy beds.

Apartment was very clean and maids were very nice and changed towels on both days that we stayed. No cockroaches or bugs whatsoever. The location is at the top of the hill, however we had a car so this was not a problem for us. The Europa centre was only a ten minute walk by foot and was good for a night out. We enjoyed several drinks at the Buddha bar. We also enjoyed playing the mini-golf, worth a go and only €4 entry/ €1 for beers.

The hotel swimming pool was brilliant, but the loungers did seem to get snapped up very quickly. I did see people rushing to get their towels out to reserve the loungers at 7.30, which did surprise me!

The hotel did have an on-site shop, which was handy, but they were charging €5.25 for a box of cereal!, don't mind paying tourist prices now and again but this was a bit much, considering you can get a box at a local supermarket for €2.
.
The few quibbles that we had from this hotel was that the terrace/bedroom window was very close to the stairs where people often walked past at night and hence we did not feel comfortable sleeping with the window open and the terrace was quite unprivate in this respect. There was also a dodgy plug in the bedroom, which you got a shock from if you touched!, had no problems with any of the other plugs though. Shower was okay, not great. No Aircon, but we were aware of that on booking.

Overall though, did have a great stay at this hotel, it provided excellent value for money. We wish we had booked a longer stay considering the quality of the other hotel that we had booked on the same trip!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor, not near the lifts. Rooms on the 7th floor looked to have outstandin...

Just returned from a week in Gran Canaria and this place is fantastic! It has excellent views of the beach and is close enough to walk (or cheap in a taxi) the apartment we had was lovely and very clean. The staff here are really friendly and went out of there way to help us. Just up from hotel is a large complex full of shops and restaurants but i would recommened going down to the beach front for a meal or the Amardoras Beach Club which is Excellent and the cocktails there are pretty good :)
Would highly recommended this place and would definitely go back.

stayed in purto rico for 3 weeks just back an me and the boyfriend stayed here for two of the weeks and after being to other apartments in purto rico i think il be coming back to this one..lovely rooms extremly clean no bugs at all!! an i looked everywere to make sure !! very modern an staff were great alot of the apartments in purto rico have old style tellys that u have to put a euro in an hour to watch it well not here an they are nice little plasmas not old tellys.. we dident have to rent any sort of equipment like toasters or microwaves they were all included. the bathroom had a big lovley shower an had a hairdryer included most people bring there own but its just conveniant that its there if you need it, the maids were lovley and came everyday. there is a double fold out bed and then two beds together in the bedroom but we spent most nights wen we wernt out on the fold out bed watchin telly :) the pool was lovley an clean an just really nice to relax in and the view from the apartments are unreal. if your lazy or have astma or breathin problems ect u might want to get a taxi as it is on the top of the hill but its only 3 euro down in a taxi..the reception isnt open 24 hours which some people prefer and other dont but if ur lookin for a lovley place to stay thats cheap dis is defo it il b goin back defo !!

Room Tip: make sure you book a room in the middle of the apartment

After reading some of the bad reviews about this hotel I felt I had to comment and completely disagree with all of them! I stayed here last August with my boyfriend for eight days and I cant fault it, The staff were excellent and the room which was clean!! was lovely with a huge balcony, the views from the rooms are amazing especially if on a top floor room, If you would like a top floor room say when you book. Our room was cleaned six out of the eight days and fresh towels were given daily. The pool was nice but put your towel on a sunbed early or they will be taken, the pool bar was also fab and sold a selection of things.

The Europa centre which has shops, bars and restaurants is ten minutes away. I would recommend the restaurant Barbacoa the food was lovely and had lots to choice from, also they have great entertainment nights including a Micheal Jackson impersonator. There is a steak restaurant opposite the supermarket which is also great, and Valentinos is also nice. The supermarket is ok but abit overpriced but sells more than the hotel.

If you want to go on cruises, jet skiing, banana boats, waterparks etc then speak to Gerry he's in the Info centre at the Europa centre ask in Barbocoa if your unsure, he knows the best places and best deals and can book you onto these things.

The beach is lovely and a 10/15 minute downhill, we got a taxi back up as its steep but its only 3 euros. I didnt think much of the restaurants at the beach I preferred the Europa centre, but there are a few restaurants by the beach to choice from.

I cant fault this hotel and seeing these bad reviews I wonder if were writing about the same place! Lovely hotel and surroundings, would definatly return!!

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room with a sea view, and a re furbished one.

We had a nice stay, a good hotel for the money and good location.
First 1/2 of our break was perfect but the second 1/2 was disrupted by a group of guests playing in the pool and playing loud music after hours every evening.
With the hotel staff not being available most evenings they were only able to assist once with this but were very helpful when they could be.

Big balcony. Nice and Clean. Quiet. Really good for the price. Pick the slightly more expensive room as they are the renovated ones! Would definately recommend it! Only thing there isn't air conditioning but that didnt really bother us but might be a problem in july or aug when its really hot!

Room Tip: Pick the more expensive one!

I spent a week in the Palmera Mar last July with my boyfriend. We were on a high floor at the end. The view from our balcony was absolutely amazing with a perfect view of the sunrise and sunset! :) Our apartment was the perfect size for the two of us, with a small kitchenette, a sofa with TV and DVD player, a bedroom, bathroom and large balcony. The balcony was perfect for a few drinks before heading out. The only downside to the apartments is that the balconies are quite open and you can see into the next apartment, and also the hill!! The apartments are located on a very steep hill and can be quite tiring in the heat, a taxi is a must when coming back from the beach! Overall fantastic apartments if you are on a high up floor! if not you still have a view of the lovely pool! :)

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor so you can see the stunning view of Amadores beach!
