First time we have stayed at the Altamadores and what a fantastic time we had (2 adults and a 12 year old)

Room...although we were all inclusive we still had self catering facitities, always a bonus as usually rooms are tiny on an all inclusive holiday. Fans in both rooms but n0 air con...which is being updated this year. To be honest it didn't matter, we kept the fans on and balcony door open and we were cool enough. Rooms clean and the maids came regualry and changed towels/bedding etc.

Food....Food was lovely, consisted of different themed nights, BBQ (my fave), Chinese, mixed, canarian, Italian. It became a bit repetitive after 2 weeks there but theres only so much they can cook that's different. Mini cakes were available during the afternoon which were always a welcomed treat.

Entertainment...Jamie G is amazing, he does all the entertainment on his own and he works so so hard. Always happy and ready for fun. Don't know where he got all his energy from sometimes. We joined in with a lot of the activities...killer darts, killer pool, water polo etc. His pool side quizzes are legendary and lots of fun with prizes to be won. Jamie found time in his busy schedule to have a chat with you and offer advice on things to do in resort. He made our holiday so much fun, don't think the altamadores would be the same without him.

Night time entertainment...Jamie would play some kids games and quizzes keeping the kids entertained. At about 9.30-9.45 the other entertainment began and the kids loved it, theres a wizard of oz show with a difference which was brilliant, Chris Mooney..a rock artist who was fantastic and also Stephanie woods from the x factor who was amazing. Other shows were a hypnotist, magician, circus act, games night as well as the usual reptile and parrot show. Cash bingo was on nightly with the prize getting close to 200 euros. Always had a great night.

Drinks....all inclusive, self service...the first hotel that I have been to that does this. Nobody really took advantage and never had to queue....maybe at 11pm when it was finishing but not for long. Hot, cold and alcoholic drinks available from 11am-11pm.

Location...perfect hotel but the location was a little far out for us, we like to go for regular walks in the day. Nice to walk down the hill to the beach but a nightmare back up...very cheap in a taxi though so didn't course a problem. Theres also Puerto rico centre with the commercial centre not far away...5 euros in a taxi and the euopa centre which was about 3 euros.

Overall, a fantastic holiday, everyone really welcoming and we met some fantastic people. We wouldn't go back because of the location but I cannot fault this hotel.

Entertainment a bit slow Jamie does his best but he's only one there so not a lot going on all day. Would we go back a big yes hope upgrades don't price it to dear.

Arrived late & first impressions of the hotel were why is the entertainment on in the restaurant?
The bar / restaurant are in the same room & entertainment does not start until 9pm at the earliest. Jamie the entertainer was brill though. He was the only member of the team & covered all the entertainment. Not a great deal for kids who were getting fed up waiting for the show to start.
Shows were good, just poor surroundings having to perform between dining tables. Bingo most nights with up to 200€ prize.
Food was good each day other than one day when lunch was cold (Lasagne & Pizza.) Loved the BBQ. Drinks ok with a self service bar. Wifi only free in reception.
Hotel is being upgraded to 4 star so building work was ongoing although it didn't bother us at all (AstroTurf around the pool, new adults area with hot tubs etc)
Room comfortable although a bit tight getting around in the bedroom. Only a settee in lounge for our son to sleep on. He's only 10 but any older I don't think it would have been very comfortable.
Bathroom good but we had a leak through the light fitting which blew all the lights and then brought the light fittings down with glass everywhere at 5am. Reported to reception who got power back on but had to wait till lunchtime till it was all fixed so no shower.
We were on 4th floor & our room had no aircon so really warm. Could hire for 50€ a week.
Great views of Altamadores beach & only 4€ for a taxi to Puerto Rico.
Weather was really hot, 35° most days.
Overall the hotel was good but don't know how it will be as a 4 star unless they improve things for kids. Would not recommend it for kids as it is. Have stayed in far better 3 stars.
Staff helpful & friendly although chap on front desk can be a bit miseable, & considering most guests are English doesn't seem to speak or understand it that well.
Enjoyed our stay overall but it's what you make it.

Room Tip: Low rooms were said to have been updated & have AC but did not see. All have balcony or terrace with sunbeds, table & chairs.

Stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks and must say it was way too long to be fair we knew from the start that this place just wasn't for us and some of which was our fault mainly being the location which just was not right

The rooms were excellent for all inclusive but still having an apartment is brill

Food mainly was a disgrace cold most of the time and you wouldn't know you were in the canaries by the food it's like being home

Work being undertaken was completely miss managed including new flooring round the pool whilst open with strong smell of glue . New solar panels above our room . Decking never seen it take so long

Staff misty excellent apart from one bar man completely ignorant

Football at meal times in my eyes is an absolute no no why allow it but they do

I've never been bothered about star rating with hotels but must say after this visit think I will

Stayed: June 2014
