“Absolutely brilliant....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2010

Stayed here from 27th april until 15th may ,extended due to ash cloud which thankfuuly made our stay 4 days longer ..
well where do i begin ?? the hotel is immaculate with 2 small swimming pools and a large sun lounger area ,it was never a problem getting one either no matter how late in the day it was. The rooms were very spacious and very comfortable with cooking and fridge/freezer facilities , all rooms over look the complex and views down to the beach . the food is top class and i mean top class with themed nights like BBQ which was great and oriental to but two ,the variety is great and there was never a shortage either and like most people i will have to go on a diet now i am back in exmouth ..the bar is all self service which works brilliantly both around the pool area and in the dining room . The entertainment is good too with pete who works his socks off .. there are live shows nearly everynight varying from reptile shows jugglers a bloke on a guitar (who was good actually)quiz nights and my favoutite KAROKE ... there is bingo everyday at 4pm with cash prizes and also some nights aswell and lucky old me won 125 euros ... the staff are very good and very nice (especially jose ) the gay waiter who like to make everyone welcome and his sister gianni who is lovely . the hotel is situated on top of a quite long steep winding hill but there is a bus which stops right outside the hotel which takes you to Puerto rico for only 1 euro or you can get ataxi for 5 euros ,you choose !! The beach is situated at the bottom of the hill ( you can walk it in 10/15 mins slowly) the beach is sandyand the water is quite deep and great for swimming in .there is also a coastal path on which you can walk through to puerto rico which is accessable from the beach .do not let the location of the hotel put you off ,, i travelled with wife, son and elderly mother and father in law who are in their 80s and they no problems at all except for the heat ,it was in the high 70s /80s every day ..
would just like to say a big thank you to all the staff ,your all stars and to all the lovely people who we met while there especially Badger and angie from Aberdeen ..

Tony issy and kyle , Exmouth ..

The only bad thing about this holiday was we could not fly home because of the ash cloud, Thomas Cook took us to Interclub Atlantic for the day & then we had to go to the airport at 11 pm to wait for our flight & arrived back at Manchester for 8.30 am the following day, The day at the Interclub was good apart from two very loud men who were a couple shouting and swearing with a lady friend who thought there behaviour was funny, Then it went worse they were on our flight, Fortunaterly one passenger had had enough & told them what everbody else was thinking & we never heard them after that. We have booked the Altamadores again as the staff & service was excellent & the food was a good variety, I dont normally eat a full breakfast but the bacon, sausage & eggs were the best I have ever had in any country, I went away with a six pack & came back with a barrel, (bigger waist line) But that could have been with the self service bar from 11 am till 11 pm. The apartment was very spacious & even had cooking facilities not that we used them apart from the fridge to keep our drinks cool. We would like to thank all the staff & our fellow travellers for making our holiday a very enjoyable one (apart from having to go on a diet now we are back home) All our love From Col & Bet at room 526.

We have just got back from our holiday at Altamadores.
And must say what a GREAT place!

The hotel offers everything you would want for an ALL inclusive relaxing holiday.
A great pool area wich overlooks the ocean, and if the pool isn´t your thing the beach is just down the hill...

The apartment are really nice & clean.

The food was lovley. And yes the was the burgers, hot dos and chips as you can expect (and the kids love) but also a very nice selection of other foods.. It still waters in my mouth when I think about the BBQ-eveings or the loveley Asian buffé...

The entertainment offer everything you can expect and more.... LIVE entertainement almost every night. Activities during the day and our favorite CASH Bingo (every afternoon).. We actually one 70€ (wich was nice.. ;-) ) And the inhouse entertainer DJ Pete is a great guy who was appriciated by everybody youngster as well as older guests.. He really made you feel at home.

Yes we would like to send a BIG thak you to PETE, Jose, Gianni and all other staff at the hotel.

And if you would like a nice relaxing HOLIDAY, this is your place.

Just returned from a week at the Altamadores. Rooms are very spacious and well equipped. The large fridge/freezer was a huge bonus for keeping drinks cool ready for the beach. Cleanliness was first class. The food excellent. The only down side for some would be the location, situated at the top of a steep hill, so not suitable for people with walking difficulties. (Taxi's very reasonable though). Lovely pool area with plenty of sun beds and self service drinks on hand all day. Great place!

Although the place was very quiet and the season had not really started so not much entertainment this time of year our stay was great.
The apartments are at the top of a very steep hill so dont reccommend for people with walking difficulties, but a taxi to the europa centre was only 3 euros.
The apartments were very clean and spacious and we had a great open veranda, so ask for the low floor option as the upper floor has a small balcony.
The food was average really but always something to eat , the bbq nite and chinese nite was the best.
Alcoholic drinks if AI that is , is help your self which is a first for me , most spirits, wine sangria , beer and mixers , so measures are too suit yourself .
People were lovely but the weather was rather windy and cloudy.

My wife & I stayed at the Altamadores apartments in October 09,we knew the area & always wanted to stay at these apartments.
The apartments are small but clean all of them have good views. And here's the but it was just are luck to be inbetween 2 couples of British drunks they where well into 40s but just drank larger from morning till light & shouted when the bar closed.
They really showed us British up,bloody old big beer belly loud mouth slobs,we had to explan that all the Brits are not like that to a nice couple of ladies from Norway.
We enjoyed the food but the eating area was just like a cafe,we didnt stay round or use the pool because of the slobs, just a nice breakfast then away, did'nt do lunch there either, evening meals were okay.
The bar/ladies/ waiteress are nice people & do a great job not that the slobs noticed.
It was a shame we just had a unlucky week but it did put us off & won't be going back to these apartments ,but we love the area great for walking & love the beach.Oh go to porto mogan nice place for day trip market on Fridays. Have a good one

Ok guys, lets talk about Altamadores. In short, it is a nice, clean hotel with a great location. The apartments are quite large and well kept. the kitchen is all in all equipped, only lacking real whine glasses. The bathroom was clean, large and to our satisfaction. One could have wished for a more comfortable bed and bedding, but it was ok.

The pool-area was great, there were plenty of space to sunbathe and the pool in it self was not that large but fully enogh to swin and play in.

We opted for the all-inclusive-stay and while we did not need to go hungry for a single minute the food in itself was not excellent, not by far. There were almost always something to eat and to drink but the meals were not kept hot for the entire serving and dit not taste very good. Actually, it was quite tasteless and one got bored with the options almost from the first day. If you were to be a vegetarian, you would have starved.
We would have wished for more local dishes, more fish and seafood, maybe a better variety of pastas and overall more spicier food. One can only eat so much fried potato chips and sausages in one week, without longing for something a bit more exciting. Also, the entertainment at dinnetime was everything but entertaining, the music was laud and it felt like you were eating in a bar and had to lean in to your company in order to get heard, but it seemed to us that most of the other guest enjoyed it.

The bar, on the other hand, was nice and the serve-your-self-policy was a fun surprise. The selection was from local wines and beer, sangria, soft drinks and a tray of hard liqour. Not the widest selection, but still fairly satisfying.

The location was great, we were not disturbed by traffic or of other noises. The buses to he beach or to puerto rico were free of charge and the walk to and from amadores beach was not nearly as rough as we had imagined. Yes, it is down-hill or up-hill, but it was easily managable. It was also very easy to get reach of ta taxicab. A trip to the shopping center i Puerto Rico cost about 3.60-4.00 euro.

All in all was the stay at Altamadores to our satisfaction. We would not recommend an all inclusive stay, due to food not the bar, however, we would most definitly recommend the hotel and location.
