“Stunning views, spacious rooms and archaeology on site”
Reviewed 3 October 2012

Spacious rooms, bathrooms with large tub, bidet. Porch/balcony with great views. Slow but usable wifi, very interesting archaeological site on the hotel property. Amazing views of the sea and surrounding countryside. Charming sitting room and central court yard. A small chapel and tower complete the structure.

Light house in the front court, but shaded from hotel windows at night when beacon is operating. Rooms are a little worn, but sheets were fresh and starched and beds very comfortable. We had rain, so couldn't sit on the porches, which were large and faced the sunset.

We ate at the restaurant and had a decent, but not remarkable dinner. Breakfast was ample and fresh.

Room Tip: Most rooms face towards the lighthouse, but are shaded from the beacon. The ones on the end (1 and 2...

Although we did not stay at the hotel, we went for dinner here one evening. The setting is very beautiful, perched on a hill top next to the (still functional) lighhouse, but because of rain we could not take dinner al fresco. Seen the Mas de Torrent group to which this hotel/restaurant belongs, our expectations were high. While our starters (jamon and calamares) were of exquisite taste, our seafood paella was served lukewarm and its taste was unfortunately below average. Friendly but formal service.

Although the food was good we noticed that the Menu del Dia had increased by 46% since Easter of this year! We know that Spain is having financial difficulties, but this was too much of a hike!

We like the restaurant, and the service, although this time a little slow, but we shall have to think again if the prices rise at this rate!

I spent many summers growing up in nearby Calella de Palafrugel and so this part of the world has always been special.

For an anniversary we decided to book a couple of nights at El Far and we definitely weren’t disappointed! The rooms are just beautiful. Ok not all of them have a terrace but ours still had a beautiful view of the sea below!

The staff are very friendly and one morning when we all wanted to gather for breakfast on my parent’s terrace they quite happily brought breakfast for all of us up there. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and it was delicious. It is fresh, well prepared, local food and sitting in the restaurant with its panoramic views made it even better.

You would need to hire a car to get about as I’m sure you can guess by the name it is at the top of the cliff! But if you fancy a walk down the hill it’s not too far to LlaFranc. Just be sure to time your journey back up the hill when it is a bit cooler!

Overall this is a really lovely, well run, unique hotel. It is one of my favourite places and I can’t wait to return one day.

Second week of October and the weather is fantastic with unseasonal high's close to 30 Deg C!

With the summer feel in the air El truly shone as it offered a perfect backdrop being set high on the hill close to the lighthouse with true panoramic views of the coastline and countryside..The sights and sounds of the sea invoke an uplift in the human spirit leaving a special place in you heart for this fantastic location.

The rooms have a boutique feel with some eccentric features adding to the charm of the hotel. We took the romantic special package from the hotel offering Cava/ fruit on arrival , complementary evening meal with wine and access to the sister hotels excellent spa facilities. The restaurant provided an informal set menu on the package which proved to be tasty with a relaxed atmosphere. Rooms were important with the weather , we started in room 2 which had a superior view but no seated balcony. The Hotel obliged with a 1 night transfer to room 5 where a balcony provided both table and sun loungers (excellent with the weather). Day two meant moving back to room 2 (as hotel full) which proved fine as we spent the day around the the pool at Mar de torrent ( sister hotel) and could enjoy the sunrise in the morning. The mini bar offered free soft drinks.

The hotel is intersected by the GR-92 coastal path which us great to explore moving north through an area of outstanding beauty (Information is available from Llafranc tourist Office). The hotel is an obvious choice for weddings so I would advise checking this before booking.

Definitely would return.

Room Tip: room 3 -7 have balconies

Our 5 nights at El Far was one of our most memorable experiences in Europe. We have traveled extensively in Europe, but this was our first time in Spain. The views are breathtaking and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We had room #4 which was great. Room #3 is the best. The food was consistantly excellent and the care and attention of the staff was remarkable and made us feel like family. We ate most of our dinners there and the one night we ventured out we were sorry! We highly recommend El Far to anyone who values a quality travel experience.

Room Tip: Room #3 is the best but we had #4 and it was excellent as well.
