great hotel took my granddaughter for a few day couldnt have asked for more xx
please dont listen to the bad reviews,go and make your own mind up. We enjoyed our weeks stay, yes there were a few things not to our liking, such as the noise level in the corridors at night and the unsupervised unpleasant children, but we worked around this, after all these people are on holiday as well...We could not fault the food,a plentiful and varied selection,we never went hungry..Staff could not have been helpful and cleaners always seemed to be busy. Try here, its not 5 star but you're not paying 5 star prices,as has already been stated in other reviews,it does what it says on the tin and you get what you pay for...
The nightstaff only EVER get cross with people who are being rowdy. What was your friend doing for the security guard to take and sling her drink? If it is so disgusting, then may I suggest you and your friends in future try and book a five-star hotel for the same money, or maybe a self catering holiday where you can cook your own food? I can guarantee your wouldn't even cover your drinks bill for what you paid here. Also, how many times a week do you change your own bed at home??? About once I bet.
We have visited this hotel 3 times in the last year and have in past years paid more money for a much worse hotel. It does what it says on the tin, and comments like yours are not really telling the true story.
Downside this trip was children at the hotel whose parents let them run riot - sorry, they should be in school, and noisy hen/stag parties not at all suited to this hotel - try Lloret de Mar!!!
We had read all the very mixed reviews before and after we booked and went with an open mind. The hotel was very busy upon arrival at 8pm, but the lady on reception was friendly and helpful advising us that we could dine until 9pm. We found our room, 4th floor with a pool view & balcony and were relatively pleased. Yes, 3 beds were crammed in, but at least we had a choice of beds and we didn't plan on spending out time in the room. The decor is a little like a UK Travelodge that has not yet been updated, but it was very clean and the shower was so powerful it could have blown a hole in the tiles! Staff made the beds and replaced towels every day which is better service than we have had in far superior hotels. I'll back up what most reviews have said about the staff, they are wonderful. The bar staff are male and from Bangladesh, they quickly get to know you and your drinks if you are polite and friendly to them - the 2 drinks only rule is upheld but if you are both sat near the bar and get to know them they will let one of you take 4 drinks (they know who is taking the proverbial and who isn't!).
The land train is great, we called in the Ninky Nonk. Those with young children will get what I mean!! It runs every half an hour into town, and was ideal.
The hotel is indeed on a main road, but everything is subjective and as we live near 2 major motorways at home, we are not bothered by road noise. I must say that being slightly out of the resort was no disadvantage at all. I was just pleased we drove straight through Calella but that's another story!
It cost us £24.50pppn for all inclusive and we certainly feel that we got a good deal. The food is not as bad as some people have stated, although some things could be better. If I was there for a week or two (instead of 2 nights) then I may have got bored.
First evening we both had pork curry which was suprisingly tasty. Both breakfasts there was cereal, pastries, fruit, toast, garlic bread (odd I know), hot drinks, fruit juice and hot food too - boiled and fried eggs, sausages, beans, and weird 'bacon' and deep fried piped mashed potato twists!! It was all edible, though healthy eating had to go out of the window a little.
The lunch on our second day was nice - a wondeful salad selection including peppers, oilves, pickles, etc and the most lovely grilled white fish fillet. We did try a burger from the snack bar late afternoon and it was a little odd! Very white (pork I assume) but almost white in colour and had no taste. The toasties looked like a better option. The evening meal on the second night was the only time I had to change my meal. I picked mussels to start which were nice, and then salmon for my main course. It was full of bones and really dry, so I left it and replaced it with a nice beef stew. It was actually beef I promise - not veiled pork!! Oh, and desserts are very school-like but my goodness me, they brought back some memories so I had seconds :-)
We never once got bit or attacked by flies because the place is kept so clean and tidy. The staff are a credit to the place, and if you make friends then extending your AI band upon the day of departure is not a problem. They even rang our transfer people for us as they didn't have us down on the list and we were at risk of being stranded!!
In a nutshell, keep an open mind and remember you only get what you give!
If you're looking for a cheap no frills holiday fuelled by disgusiting food and alchol, then go ahead and book. I have recently returned with my young family and found the food uneatable (cold and dry), many of the guests drunk and abusive, whilst the night staff were unhelpful and plain aggressive. On arriving I was told there was a 6 euro charge per day for a baby's cot, which was not made clear before booking, and the guy on the night desk just blankly ignored my questions.
There was very little entertainment at an evening, with an occasional DJ and average singer. Most evenings were spent in the bars and resturants along the resort and not the hotel.
I would not recommend this place for anyone with young families, please look past the cheap price....
After reading some of the reviews on here , we decided what the heck lets book and see for ourselves, and we thought Oh God!!. But I was shocked and surprised when we arrived at the Santa Susanna resort, from the outside it looked like a Ski lodge, but I liked it
The staff were friendly and always polite, an English woman was on reception (which is always handy )
We went to our rooms to unpack, they were small with 4 single beds lol, Ok for the kids I suppose HaHa, But we were on hols so who cared about the beds, the room was cleaned every day with fresh clean towels and clean beds changed daily.
Food, well what a spread they put on , choice of fish, curry, chicken, pork, chips baked potatoes, rice, a huge selection of salads and lovely desserts. My kids ate well every day.
The pool- not a massive pool but big enough for my kids to have fun and enjoy, plenty of room for sun lounging. Although after years of English people moaning about foreigners hogging sun beds, they were doing exactly the same, so if you see loungers like we did that nobody had used for over 4 hours, throw the towels off
.There is a snack bar by the poolside, beer on tap, coffee is really nice and the tosties as they call them were great, staff were very friendly and always smiling and always say gracias.
Night time entertainment wasn’t the best , sort of repeat performances unless you love Elvis. If you have kids under 9 then the kids club is ok, nothing for older kids apart from the games room which can get expensive lol .
There is a free train and bus that goes to the beach front and to the train station, beautiful beaches and mountain views, not like our sandy beaches though. Take a day trip to Barcelona, beautiful stunning city and see it all on the bus trip.
You do get the rowdy ones staying here , stags and hens but what do you expect for a Bargain 3 star hotel all inclusive. I would definitely stay here again.
If you want the Ritz, then go pay for the Ritz and moan there, but if you want a weeks bargain in the sun then you can’t fault this place.
.Te staff were constantly cleaning from dusk till dawn, something hotels in the UK don’t do
.Hope you have an enjoyable experience just like us
