“Full of facilities”

The hotel is big and the rooms are also spacious. As it is Spain , it is full of russians and as we all know that they are not of very friendly nature. There are so many other facilities in hotel like spa, sauna , gym , swimming pool etc. this hotels little bit costly also. The room are clean and comfortable. There are also many sea food varieties are available but as i am a vegetarian so it is of no use for me.

Room Tip: Sweets are good.

just returned home 04/09/2013. hotel was nice enough. full of Russians who were rude, greedy and unfriendly. would push in dinner line. fill their bags with food including tubs of ice creams, fruit rolls and boldly walk out. never saw them confronted.dont bother smiling at them you will just get glared at. rude reception staff, think they were Russian too! waiting and bar staff were friendly. room was clean. location good. bring back the Germans, at least they are civilized!

The Mercury certainly isn’t the Ritz or the Savoy. It’s not a boutique hotel or a family-run B&B. It is what it is – a large-scale budget hotel catering for hundreds of guests from a dozen or so countries. It does what it does really well. The rooms are smart and comfortable and cleaned and tidied on a daily basis. The bathroom facilities are good. There’s a TV and free wi-fi in the rooms as well as a small fridge which is a real bonus. There’s very little noise breakthrough from adjoining rooms or the outside. The public areas are spacious and attractive. The catering is remarkably efficient, given the huge numbers of people who descend on it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Almost all tastes are catered for with a comprehensive selection of foods on offer (and which never seem to run out). The menu changes on a daily basis although staples like chips are constantly available. It’s not cordon bleu cooking, but fresh fish is on the menu every night and overall the meals are tasty and filling - you can eat as much as you like. Eating five fruits a day has never been easier. The only downside was the coffee which was atrocious (and making a cup of tea was a protracted business). The entertainment (poolside in the mornings) and in the large reception area (evenings) was a bit naff at times but enjoyable enough (with different sessions for children and adults). The hotel was located at one end of the Santa Susanna strip, right across the road from the station (handy for direct trains to Barcelona – less than 10 euros for a return). The beach was accessed via an underpass beneath the railway – it was nothing like as crowded as some of the other beaches on this coastline but the sand was rather coarse. Trips were available to a variety of locations offering leisure pursuits and some like Waterworld in Lloret de Mar offered free bus services. Otherwise Santa Susanna is nothing special – it’s a purpose-built tourist resort with all the usual tacky nonsense on sale at a variety of shops alternating with restaurants and bars plus occasional markets. However the Carrefour supermarket is only a fifteen minute walk from the hotel and is a very cheap source of supplies. We were almost put of this hotel by some of the reviews which seem to have been made by people whose holiday wouldn’t have been complete without a good moan, but from our point of view it offered terrific value for money. It doesn’t seem to cater much for Brits however which on one hand meant less drunken rowdiness and tattoos but on the other made holiday friendships more difficult to come by.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool are better but then again how much time do you want to spend in them?

I spent a week here with my little boy and apart from a rude receptionist, found our week very enjoyable. the food was quite varied with lots of fresh fish and extremely friendly and efficient waiting staff. the room was clean, as was the rest of the hotel. the bar staff were also friendly. I wouldnt return as I found the area a little boring however its only an hour and a bit to get into barcelona.

I have stayed at this hotel this month with some of my friends and we has a blasting time. This area is awesome, we went out in Santa Susana, Lloret, Calella... It is super fun and much more chilled than Barcelona city, and much cheaper. Day activities at the beach and nightlife at the hotel and the surroundings really made our trip. The Mercury is new, clean and very appropriate for all ages.

Me and my family were in Santa Susana for a few days this month while we were seeing as much as we could of Spain. We had been in Alicante before getting to this town near Barcelona and we liked it so much better. It is not as crowded and the people (locals and hotel staff) were much more friendly. The hotel is very spatious and clean (with comfortable beds) and the food at the restaurant is very satisfactory.
