The decor is a comfortable blend of old and new, creating an atmosphere which is relaxed, informal and individual. The en-suite hotel style bedrooms are cosy and inviting, blending comfort with character, some enjoy sea views over the harbour. Located, on the Lizard Peninsula (near Helston) with its beautiful beaches, historic harbour and quaint narrow streets of fishermen's homes is the ideal location from which to explore historic Cornwall.

“A decent carvery at a good price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

Visited the Harbour Inn for their Sunday carvery. Plenty of food on a plate and the chef was very friendly. Carvery was to a good standard with nice crackling and a variety of vegetables and tasty Yorkshire puddings. The only trouble was that the plate was too small! A fail-safe Sunday lunch in Porthleven.

“Lovely Pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

On the harbour front, well the name says it all, in Porthleven is this charming pub, The Harbour Inn. Good selection of ales and plenty of seating outside, should the weather allow. We were fortunate enough to enjoy this.
Food is second to none and the staff friendly, yet professional. A bit of advice if eating outside. Find a table with a brolly, bring the brolly down as far as you can if eating. The Reason.....lol......a couple of ladies were eating (???) a magnificent prawn sandwich. Until, a seagull swooped down and took it off the plate. The bugger then did a second run and nicked the other half. Management did replace the sandwich and the ladies ate it inside.
Great pub.

“Good food and fast service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

This is a pub on the harbour. We visited on a hot day and it was fairly busy, but mainly outside trade. We sat inside and it was quiet. It is rather dark indoors and would benefit from cleaning the upholstery on the bench seats. Having said that, the food was very good and the service was quick and friendly. They have a fair range of dishes and cater for smaller appetites too. We had the lite-bite scampi and lite-bite fish and chips. It was all hot, freshly cooked and well presented. Both meals were large enough and we were glad we had only ordered the light bites because the other meals we saw were huge. The prices were average for lunch-time meals. They do have a function room and provide accommodation. We would go again.

“Beware the seagulls !!!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

We ate here twice last week. The food was very good on both occasions.

The inside of the bar was a bit dark and dreary but always seemed full and very busy. Ordering food was a bit confusing with lines of hungry punters stretching across each other for lack of visible signs telling us where and how to order.

We sat outside to eat because the view there was wonderful. J's cod 'n' chips was excellent and so much better than the offerings from R Stein's at Falmouth. I had good value, tasty dishes both times.

Just beware the seagulls if eating outside. They can swoop in under the table's umbrella and have the food from your plate before you know it. One couple's food arrived whilst she was at the bar getting drinks. A seagull came in, grabbed her cod in batter and was off as quick as you like. The poor bird dropped it on the floor. At which time the chap put it back for his partner to eat. I don't know if he told her that one end of her cod had been stolen and partly nibbled by the gull.

Service seemed pretty decent for a busy pub. Prices were quite acceptable.
