“Great location. Like home from home.”

The owners have gone out of their way to make this place like a home from home. Unlike so many more commercial lettings (via agents) there are plenty of cleaning things, washing up liquid bin bags etc. Why don't more people realise that if you provide the things to keep it clean people will keep it clean. I did several loads of laundry - the tumble drier is amazing. Also loads of toiletries and a few food stuffs (that people have left behind I suspect). Again these normally get thrown away. On the house itself: two great bedrooms with super comfortable beds and great linen. The living room and kitchen are small but perfectly adequate. My only complaint is that the neighbours (nearer the beach) sometimes leave washing hanging out so it totally blocks the view. But the cottage is so close to the beach that if the terrace isn't saying it you can pop to the sea or to the local pub (The Ship) and sit and watch the sunset. There is wifi and a dishwasher. honestly we wanted to stay. Welcome pack included wine! Oh and Anna the Dog loved it too!

“Totally Fabulous!”

This truely is a fabulous cottage in a great location. The owners, Ann-Mari & Bob couldn't be more helpful or generous. We booked this cottage as it was 'pet friendly' and we were taking Dave the Hamster. On checking in we found they had given us the gift of a fresh loaf of bread, two scones, some honey, clotted cream and a bottle of Chablis. There was a pint of milk and pack of butter in the fridge as well! Oh, and ice-cubes in the freezer! The ground floor of the cottage is well laid out, and quite spaceous considering the size of the cottage. Two armchairs and a sofa, TV and fire. The Kitchen area, whilst not overly large, provides everything you need in order to prepare and cook a meal. There is an electric oven and gas hob, as well as a microwave oven and a fridge freezer to die for! All the basics are provided for, salt/vinegar/cooking oil/herbs/spices etc, so you don't actually need to take anything with you. There is a large co-op store about 4 minutes walk from the cottage if you wish to top up. There is also a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron & ironing board. There is free wifi via a BTHomehub - password available from the owners. The shower room is off the kitchen area by the double doors that lead to the small outside area where the bins are kept. The toilet is immaculate. There is a heated shower rail, shower cubicle and vanity sink, plus towels & bath mat. There are plenty of towels provided as well as spare sheets if needed. Going upstairs, MIND YOUR HEAD! The stairs have a low beam so beware! But once on the next level, there is a bedroom that looks over the front of the cottage with bunk beds - double bed at the bottom - so it could comfortably sleep 3 people. We never used the room but it looked neat and tidy. The greatest thing about this cottage is the master bedroom. This room is beautiful. The bed is a 'super kingsized' which must be 5/6ft wide! and extremely comfortable. The bed looks out to the french windows which lead to a balcony/patio. This really is the crowning glory of the cottage. An outside space with two lounger chairs and a table with seating for 6. The balcony looks over the neighbours balconies out to sea. Beautiful - please look at my photos. I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. The owners really have gone the extra mile to cater for your every need. There are board games, pens, paper, books, toys etc plus crab nets to make sure you never get bored! The sea is only a few yards away and the town centre is on your doorstep. There are newsagents/chippy/pubs/restaurants within a few minutes walk. The two pubs on the 'back beach are great and have live music at weekends. Although you cannot park at the property, parking at a car park is available at the end of the Strand at approx £4 a day, and parking on the Strand can be found if you check either early evening or early morning. If you are considering a break in Teignmouth, then I would seriously recommend that you check out availabilty at Crab Claw Cottage - pound for pound it is far better value for money than any B&B

“I wouldnt stay anywhere else!”

I stayed in Crabclaw cottage with my partner and two children, whilst visiting family in Teignmouth. The cottage was lovely, clean and tidy and we were provided with all the essentials eg milk, toiletries and wine! There were little notes left around the cottage explaining how things worked, which I though was a lovely touch.

We luckily picked a very good week for weather and the split stable door at the front was very welcome at night time as was the south facing balcony during the day!

Just a few steps down to the bottom of the street there was a small beach, when followed we found a lovely pub called the Ship Inn which was lively and friendly and served very good food.

We were also a 5 minute walk away from the main beach and shops. We all had a wonderful time and will definitely be booking Crabclaw cottage for next years trip!

“Love Crabclaw Cottage”
Reviewed 13 August 2012 for a stay in August 2012

Myself and my family stayed in Crabclaw Cottage for one week in August 2012. Firstly I would like to say that it is a fantastic place and well worth the price we paid. The cottage is neat, tidy and clean. it is also very well equiped with washer and dryer and a dish washer. The owners are very friendly and proud of the property as they should be.

When we arrived we found stocked cupboards (bread, butter, cheese, milk, tea, coffee, tinned goods etc. and a very welcome bottle of wine), also toiletries were supplied. Also the owners came to the cottage after we had arrived to check everything was okay which we found to be a very nice thought. Also messages were left around the cottage explaining how things worked which was also nice. Loved the split front door, very nice to have it open in the evening to let in the night air.

The location is great, less than five minutes from sea front, peir, prom and childs play area. Walk to the end of the street and your at what is locally called the back beach, lovely view of a bay full of boats. Local shops are great, lots of places to eat. Also just round the corner from the ferry landing to Sheldon across the bay.

Finally we would like to say that we would not hesiate to recommed Crab Claw Cottage to anyone looking to stay in Teignmouth. A great place all round (we are already planning to go back next year).

“Charming fisherman's cottage”
Reviewed 25 June 2012 for a stay in June 2012

Crabclaw Cottage is quaint and has all the mod-cons. The owners had left us scones, butter, jam, cheese and milk for us to use plus they had left the cottage stocked with sufficient tea & coffee, loo rolls etc so we only had to organise our meals - you don't often get that when self catering. The cottage is less than a 5 minutes walk from town and right near the back beach, location is great and apart from the seagulls, a very quiet area. Stayed for a long weekend with my husband and teenage daughter - we would definitely consider booking here again. We all slept well, a combination of fresh sea air and extremely comfortable beds! The cottage was clean and tidy. Pets if taken must remain downstairs in the property. The owners contacted us before our stay with directions etc and gave us their phone numbers should an emergency arise. Locally we ate at Fresco's Italian - you must book in advance - it is highly recommended. Lots of coffee shops in the town. Great play area on the seafront for those with children under 12.

“Wonderful cottage in a great location”

We stayed at Crabclaw Cottage for Feb half term. The cottage is quaint with a lovely wood burner, good kitchen space and a breakfast bar to eat at with enough room for 3 people, the kitchen has all mod cons, there were plenty of clean towels and bed linen supplied. The bedrooms are comfortable as is the rest of the cottage. The stairs are on the steep side with low head room.
The only tiny negative is that the toilet and shower are at the back of the property on the ground floor, this was a bit of a long haul if you needed the toilet during the night, however as this is a very old property it is to be expected.
The owners of the cottage left us some milk, bread, wine and biscuits for our arrival we also found basic store cupboard ingredients and plenty of wood, kindle and firelighters for the fire.
Nearby there are lots of eating places, resturants and shops. For those that are staying a while there is a large Tesco at Newton Abbot or Sainsburys at Dawlish, the cottage is literally 20 walking paces to the waters edge. There is no allocated parking so we obtained a weekly parking ticket from Teignmouth Borough Council for a reasonable rate and parked in the car park nearby which due to the time of year had plenty of spaces. This is a great location and is central to local places of interest, eg Torquay, Dawlish, Dartmouth, Paignton etc. I can also recommend a trip to Babbacombe Cliff Lift, would also suggest Sheldon and the smugglers tunnel and beach.
Before we went we received excellent communication from the owners and they also rang to check everything was ok during our stay.
