Fancying a weekend away from everything with my dog I read the reviews for crab claw and was immediately drawn to this place. I've been coming to Teignmouth since I was a kid so I knew the area very well. This cottage is so lovely and in a perfect location and only minutes away from the sea front. But the one thing I can't stress enough is just how brilliant the amenities are. The cottage has sky tv not just down stairs but also in the bedroom. The cottage also has wifi and also a tumble dryer as well as a dish washer. There was honestly nothing I needed to go out and get because it was already there and ready for me. I was also left a little snack that included a bottle of wine and chocolates as well some milk, cheese and butter. Can not stress enough how fantastic this cottage is and with such nice owners that run it also. I will deff be back when I can.

Liked best: That everything was available, kitchen cleaning equiptment, towels etc as well as being left some food as well as wine - way more then what I would ever expect.

“Nice cottage at a reasonable price in a very good location”

The cottage is well supplied with thoughtful extras such as beach towels , dressing gowns, and toiletries. There is also a welcome pack including a bottle of wine. The beach is literally 20 yards away at the end of the road and the shops/restaurants are within a five minute walk. Realistically, guests will have to park in a nearby car park (£4.40/24 hours) although they may occasionally be able to park in an adjacent street free of charge. The cottage has a small, but useful, balcony affording some views of the estuary. The rooms are quite small but comfortable and the kitchen is fairly new. A plus point- the shower works very well.

“The Best Kept Secret - Don't Tell ANYONE!”

This was our 3rd stay at this cottage and it just gets better. i couldn't review our last stay due to tripadvisors 12 month rule - but needless to say, we returned! I love this place. As always, there was a welcome gift of chocolates, croissants, home made jam and wine. Also a pint of milk, and butter. There was a big bag of ice in the ice box of the fridge - perfect for my gin & tonc on the balcony! Basics such as herbs, spices, cooking oil, tea and coffe are also provided. We are a 50+ couple, no kids, and the cottage suits us perfectly. However, if you have children or pets, you will find Ann-Mari & Bob have covered most bases. There are board games, DVDs and bucket & spades for the kids and food/water bowls for dogs/cats.
Everything you have at home you will find in this cottage: iron/board, washing machine, drier, micro wave, dish washer. Spare sheets and towels. After 3 visits i cannot think of one time where I thought "if only..." because everything is catered for. Teignmouth is a pleasant seaside town with nice restaurants and pubs. Once you stay at CrabClaw you'l never want to stay anywhere else! Thanks Bob & Ann-Mari xxx

“Great location. Like home from home.”

The owners have gone out of their way to make this place like a home from home. Unlike so many more commercial lettings (via agents) there are plenty of cleaning things, washing up liquid bin bags etc. Why don't more people realise that if you provide the things to keep it clean people will keep it clean. I did several loads of laundry - the tumble drier is amazing. Also loads of toiletries and a few food stuffs (that people have left behind I suspect). Again these normally get thrown away. On the house itself: two great bedrooms with super comfortable beds and great linen. The living room and kitchen are small but perfectly adequate. My only complaint is that the neighbours (nearer the beach) sometimes leave washing hanging out so it totally blocks the view. But the cottage is so close to the beach that if the terrace isn't saying it you can pop to the sea or to the local pub (The Ship) and sit and watch the sunset. There is wifi and a dishwasher. honestly we wanted to stay. Welcome pack included wine! Oh and Anna the Dog loved it too!

Liked best: The location.
Liked least: The stairs are steep and we banged our head a few times. Not suitable for the very old or very young.

“Totally Fabulous!”

This truely is a fabulous cottage in a great location. The owners, Ann-Mari & Bob couldn't be more helpful or generous. We booked this cottage as it was 'pet friendly' and we were taking Dave the Hamster. On checking in we found they had given us the gift of a fresh loaf of bread, two scones, some honey, clotted cream and a bottle of Chablis. There was a pint of milk and pack of butter in the fridge as well! Oh, and ice-cubes in the freezer! The ground floor of the cottage is well laid out, and quite spaceous considering the size of the cottage. Two armchairs and a sofa, TV and fire. The Kitchen area, whilst not overly large, provides everything you need in order to prepare and cook a meal. There is an electric oven and gas hob, as well as a microwave oven and a fridge freezer to die for! All the basics are provided for, salt/vinegar/cooking oil/herbs/spices etc, so you don't actually need to take anything with you. There is a large co-op store about 4 minutes walk from the cottage if you wish to top up. There is also a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron & ironing board. There is free wifi via a BTHomehub - password available from the owners. The shower room is off the kitchen area by the double doors that lead to the small outside area where the bins are kept. The toilet is immaculate. There is a heated shower rail, shower cubicle and vanity sink, plus towels & bath mat. There are plenty of towels provided as well as spare sheets if needed. Going upstairs, MIND YOUR HEAD! The stairs have a low beam so beware! But once on the next level, there is a bedroom that looks over the front of the cottage with bunk beds - double bed at the bottom - so it could comfortably sleep 3 people. We never used the room but it looked neat and tidy. The greatest thing about this cottage is the master bedroom. This room is beautiful. The bed is a 'super kingsized' which must be 5/6ft wide! and extremely comfortable. The bed looks out to the french windows which lead to a balcony/patio. This really is the crowning glory of the cottage. An outside space with two lounger chairs and a table with seating for 6. The balcony looks over the neighbours balconies out to sea. Beautiful - please look at my photos. I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. The owners really have gone the extra mile to cater for your every need. There are board games, pens, paper, books, toys etc plus crab nets to make sure you never get bored! The sea is only a few yards away and the town centre is on your doorstep. There are newsagents/chippy/pubs/restaurants within a few minutes walk. The two pubs on the 'back beach are great and have live music at weekends. Although you cannot park at the property, parking at a car park is available at the end of the Strand at approx £4 a day, and parking on the Strand can be found if you check either early evening or early morning. If you are considering a break in Teignmouth, then I would seriously recommend that you check out availabilty at Crab Claw Cottage - pound for pound it is far better value for money than any B&B
