I visited this cafe on a Sunday Afternoon for a Devonshire Cream Tea. For just over a fiver I got 2 Scones, Clotted Cream Jam and a large pot of Tea where I got around 4 or 5 cups out of it. Well worth it. The staff are absolutely friendly and well recommended.

A friend and I chose to eat at an outside table on a perfect hot summer day. A good situation to people watch by the fountain. We used the ladies loo but there was no loo paper, no paper towels and the hand drier did not work. We politely told a member of staff who said that would be put right straight away. We then ordered, service was prompt, charming and friendly. We both had Cajun whitebait. The whitebait was perfectly cooked and delicious and the salad fresh. It was spoilt only by a thick smear of some cheap tasting brown sauce, which would have been better served in a small dish (as was the tartare sauce) so that we could avoid it. Coffee was good, and we were offered ice with our tap water. A big sign said the establishment is under new ownership and we wish them well. After a leisurely lunch, we found the ladies loo unchanged.
I would recommend The Dairy Maid for lunch, but take your own loo paper!

Enjoyed the two course lunch special and chose main course and desert . Well presented and tasty served with a friendly smile. The local people and visitors were happy to talk to us and this made for a special atmosphere.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, bit overpriced. The seagulls are a menace when you sit outdoors, it they provide water guns for shooing the gulls away without hurting them.

I nice place to have lunch good value and a nice selection of food .
