I recently stayed at the Thornhill hotel on the sea front in teighnmouth. The view from my room was incredible looking over the beach. It was a peaceful stay although it is in a good location and the beach is literally on the door step. Couldn't ask for more friendly and welcoming staff, very polite and always there to help if needed. The breakfast was delicious with a wide verity. The rooms were a decent size with everything you need and the beds were also very comfy. Overall a brilliant stay and I will definitely be staying there next to I come to Teighnmouth and wil also be recommending it to friends! A****

My stay at the thornhill was comfortable, enjoyable and affordable. The breakfast was delicious and we had a great sea view from our room. The staff were very welcoming and instantly likeable-genuine friendly people. As we were leaving two other guests were booking up for next year, as will we. Highly recommended!

Stayed at the Thornhill Hotel in Teignmouth, South Devon for two nights. Had a room over looking the sea front. The hotel is an excellent location just off the centre of the main town (2 minute walk), next to the Swimming Lido and on the sea wall with an excellent walk along the front. The train station is a 10 minute walk away.

The hotel has just been taken over by a new couple who are very friendly and made us feel most welcome. The room was clean, had fresh bedding, an en-suite shower room and was very comfortable.

Breakfast had all you could wish for in variety and quanity of food. The bacon was delicious!! There was no waiting as the service was prompt and very friendly.

The hotel does not currently serve evening meals although the owners said they will be doing that soon. In the evening we went to the Ness Restaurant which had great views looking out over the estuary.

I would certainly recommend the Thornhill Hotel to others thinking of staying in Teignmouth that want a reasonably priced place to stay, that is comfortable and is close to all that Teignmouth has to offer.

WOW we chose to stay here and booked up with no investigating before hand. We found the owners extremely friendly and helpful particularly when the Fire Alarm went off by a fault, they was there and solving all Safety issues, and kept guests informed.
Breakfast was served in a clean and hygenic dining room, and was served with very little waiting.
Well done the Thornhill we will be back.

Have holidayed in Teignmouth annually since 1947 and at the Thornhill many times over the years and annually since 1996.
The hotel is an exceptional example of a traditional, family run seaside hotel. All rooms are decorated to the highest standard and the facilities are what one would expect from a 4 diamond/star establishment. The bar is cozy and great fun in the evenings should one wish to use it. The food is top-rate and you are really amde to feel welcome and relaxed.

The hotel's location is convenient for all amenities and being on the sea front offers level access to nearly 2 miles of promenade and sea-wall for exercise and enjoyment. It is at the quiet end of the town which is reached by a five minute level walk.

Thoroughly recommended. Booked in for July 2008!! and 2009,2010...........................

We stayed here in the summer of 2003 so this review is somewhat delayed! However as there are no previous comments I thought I would add some as this really is a delightful little place. Despite the name it’s more of a Bed and Breakfast than a Hotel (and with just 12 rooms) but they serve evening meals if you want them and there is also a lounge area. I stayed in a twin room with my brother and this room was huge (including tall ceiling), clean, adequately-equipped, comfortable and quiet. The only criticism about the room was the lack of view. Our parents stayed in a Double Room with a view (overlooking the Esplanade), and their room was of a similar standard. I booked this stay for the four of us guided only by what I could see on their website so this always represents a risk. However we were all most pleasantly surprised by this unpretentious yet great value-for-money little gem. We stayed only one night so that we could attend a late-evening function at the Teignmouth Yacht Club – just 2 minutes walk away – but I could quite easily spend a week here. The cost was just £27.50 pppn, a real bargain considering the location, facilities and excellent English breakfast. The only downside is the lack of parking, if there are no on-road spaces just opposite you will have a bit of a walk to park the car. And there is a heated public swimming pool just up the road if you tire of the beach and sea. Recommended!
