“Weekend Break”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

Very friendly family run hotel, spotlessly clean room, although a bit on the small side. We were at the back, no view, but quiet. Great service at breakfast. No parking on site, 5 min walk, free after 6pm til 9am.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view!

We often visit Teignmouth as my mother lives there; unfortunately we now have to stay in a hotel (oh the hardship!) and we picked a winner in the Thornhill :-) We have already booked our next stay whilst finishing our first stay.
The hotel has an excellent location at the end of the seafront, near to the Lido and towards the train line to Dawlish. A very quiet location and we could hear the waves crashing on the seawall (it was choppy at high tide!!).
Our room (no 10) was very clean, had THE most comfortable bed (cotton sheets - always a winner for me), good shower, and although a little dated (cheap pine wardrobes but I'm not complaining), I had the best nights sleep for a long time.
The breakfast offered a good choice; the usual pastries and cereals and fruits and full English but also scrambled eggs and smoked salmon or eggs benedict. All served with a smile from Marika and nothing was too much trouble for anyone.
Thank you Thornhill.

I have stayed in a few Teignmouth hotels/B&Bs over the last year or so and the Thornhill is far and away the best - so much so that I have already booked my next stay.

I gathered that the current owners only took over recently, but you'd think they had been running the place for years. They were all very friendly and helpful and made me feel really welcome.

My bed was really comfy, there were proper curtains, so I wasn't woken too early by intrusive light (other establishments please take note!) and, as others have commented, breakfast was delicious.

I am very much looking forward to staying there again and can heartily recommend the place to others, but you are advised to book well in advance, as they only have a few rooms.

After literally running away from the Bay Hotel (see my review for there), we were welcomed into the Thornhill for the night, it was comfortable, bright and airy it wasn't even 10am, they had a room free with a great seaview and let us go in straight away and even offered us breakfast.

The owner (who had only taken over 3 days ago) was attentive and busy, she had taken in some people overnight who had been forced out of their homes in Dawlish following the breach of the sea wall and track.

Breakfast was nice and the staff (all family it seems) were nice, I wish them well for their future business.

Room Tip: We had room 4 good view of the sea.

This is the 2nd time we've stayed at Thornhill Hotel. It's a lovely place. Very clean. Extremely comfortable bed. The breakfast is also excellent and the owners are friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again in the future

Room Tip: We've had a room with a sea view last time and one without this time both rooms were excellent

We booked this as as stop over on our way to Cornwall, the previous reviews all rated the breakfast and we weren't disappointed and they cater for allergies as if you just let them know (which we didn't).
The room was clean and tidy and well appointed. We were upgraded to a sea view room on arrival without requesting it. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel, it's well placed for the seafront and the town.
