Fantastic day, The minibus arrived right on time and Andy & Kate were welcoming and very organised. The tour was informative every step of the way starting off with the history of wine making in Devon, we visited 3 vinyards the last one being near a place we used to live!
We had lunch at Old Walls on their open veranda and a wine tasting between courses, great.
We were able to taste a total of 18 wines during the tour and arrived home happy and content
then had a well earned snooze. Great day out in Devon will certainly recommend and plan to do it again in the future.

We booked a half day tour with lunch to start and had a fantastic time. The minibus picked us up promptly and all we had to to was sit back, get driven to the three vineyards we visited and sample the wine! Kate and Andy were perfect hosts, friendly and informative (particularly enjoyed Andy's wealth of local history and knowledge). The wines were lovely, just a perfect day - highly recommended.

We booked the wine tour through a package at our hotel, and it turned out to be one of our favorite days in England! Our hosts were informative, fun, funny and friendly. We wanted to see the coast so they took a small detour and drove along the water so we could get a better view. We went to 3 vineyards, had a very through lesson in vineyard planting and wine making at the first, weren't so wild about the second vineyard ( so they adjusted our tour and we spent only a short time there ) and had a good experience at the 3rd. What really made the tour though, were our hosts Kate and Andy! We highly recommend a tour with them- you won't be disappointed.

I booked this as a surprise birthday present for my fiancé. I was looking for a wine tour, but couldn't find one more than a couple of hours long (personally, I think you need longer when it comes to wine). I stumbled across South Devon Wine Tours on the internet and decided that the opportunity to drink and not drive was too good to miss. So that we wouldn't have to get a train from Dorset at 7 in the morning, Andy arranged that we could get a later train and be picked up. I was impressed by the service before I even met them! On the day, after being wowed by Andy's local knowledge in the car, we started at Old Walls vineyard, where we had a fascinating talk from Ken about the intricacies of wine making. After some generous tasters and lunch (included in the price), it was over to Froginwell for cider and more wine and then another vineyard after this (I'd had a bit too much to drink by this time) for a totally different vineyard experience. Kate and Andy even had a supply of cold drinks, biscuits and fruit in the car-perfect for a hot day and lots of wine! This tour is a fantastic day and great value for money. Kate and Andy have obviously done a lot of research into the local vineyards and devised a tour that is informative and extremely varied, as well as allowing everyone on the tour to drink. It was a brilliant day and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone; hardened wine tasters and social drinkers alike!

Glad you enjoyed it Natalie, and I'm also glad we could make something work with that later train.

June 2014 - I was looking for something to do with a group of 10 (5 couples) that would keep everyone entertained and came across a couple of vineyards offering tours in Devon. However, transport was a problem as most of the group would want to taste the wine, and that's when I stumbled across Kate and Andy's brilliant tour company. Organising the tour with Kate was easy peasy and on the day we were picked up on time, ferried around in a spacious mini bus and car, and taken to Old Walls vineyard and Sharpham's estate. Old Walls vineyard is a smaller family owned business and gave us the beginning to end view of producing wine, run by Ken who is clearly passionate and very knowledgeable about his business. I realised how much effort goes into producing just one bottle of wine that day, especially by a smaller business, and the lunch served after the talks and wine tasting was simple but good. Andy and Kate then took us on a scenic route to Sharpham's estate which was a contrast to Old Walls in that it is very much a commercial business, and there we got to enjoy walk around the vineyard and enjoyed spectacular views to the river and steam paddle boat. The group enjoyed the wine and cheese tasting here (although not as much selection of cheese that day due to Sharpham's selling out of most of their varieties). Andy and Kate were superb throughout the day and were clearly knowledgeable about Devon's vineyards and what they had to offer. They took care of our group for the day and got us back at the promised time of 5:30pm. A great day out for all and well worth the money.
