“Perfect family dinner”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

Four of us for dinner, drinks in the garden, all our starters were first class as were the main courses. The wine was extra special but in fairness it should have been as it was quite an expensive choice but worth every penny. I had the cheese but the girls had a selection of deserts and as I tried some of these I can say with conviction that they were outstandingly good.

The service at Summer Lodge continues to be of the highest standard and although it was an expensive dinner, thanks to the wine, it did justify the cost.

“Should have a Michelin star!”
Reviewed 27 July 2014 via mobile

We ate here as part of our weekend away in evershot. The restaurant has a beautiful view over the gardens which are really lovely. The service was immaculate from the minute we sat down. We had the six course surprise menu and the chef did not disappoint! The food was cooked beautifully and the desserts were out of this world!! It wasn't cheap but was well worth it!! Highly recommend.

“Didn't meet my expectations”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

We arrived for our afternoon tea with high expectations after hearing extremely good reviews from others. The setting is amazing and the gardens are very pretty and you are welcome to stroll around them plus there are plenty of seats both in the sun and shade. Our party had pre-booked but we had no menu to choose from. A 3 tier stand was placed on our table with a selection of sandwiches, cakes and one scone for each of us. Some of the sandwiches were a little dry, definitely not freshly made. There were various cakes some of which were tasty. The scones were quite small and one of our party thought they were rock cakes as they were hard but there was plenty of clotted cream and jam. The tea was served with a tea strainer and various teas offered to us but no hot water! We were amazed to discover when talking to another visitor that a small glass of wine had cost them £16.50 - definitely no alcohol for us. All in all we were glad that we went but wouldn't bother going again.

Evershot1, General Manager at Restaurant at Summer Lodge, responded to this review, 30 June 2014
Dear Jane-Dolly S, I am so sorry to see that afternoon tea did not come up to your expectations. I will discuss your feedback with both Steven the Chef and Max the Restaurant Manager. The sandwiches are made daily and we do have a large list of glasses of wine ranging in price from £6.50 to £16.50. I would like to mention that if we are told at the time that you have been less than satisfied with what you have received, we guarantee we will do whatever it takes to ensure you leave entirely happy. Sincerely, Charles, General Manager
