Stayed here for one night for a function. Comfortable modern hotel, built in 2010, which had a friendly, homely feel as its not too big, with 39 rooms. The rooms are of a good size with the biggest bed I have ever slept in! Beds are comfortable, not too hard or soft. There is plenty of storage with a good sized wardrobe unit and plenty of drawers under a large desk. A flat screen tv with freeview channels and a round table with 2 chairs are also provided. In a cupboard you will find a tray with tea and coffee making facilities consisting of a kettle, 2 cups, and the usual mixture of tea bags, coffee, milk pots etc. A hairdryer is provided which was powerful and hot. The bathroom is a good size with a bath and shower, the shower was very nice and simple to use. Very clean room and bathroom. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included in the price and it was of a buffet style. The staff ask you which drink you would like as you enter and bring either a big teapot or coffee pot with ample milk in a jug. More than enough for 2 cups each and refillable if u ask. There is a choice of hot food, bacon, sausage, scrambled or fried eggs, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and black pudding. Bread is provided and 2 large toasters should you wish to have toast. OJ,apple juice, cranberry juice, and iced water is provided in jugs, a choice of cereals and pastries. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay, wish it had been longer. A car is definately needed if you plan to stay here to tour the area as it is about half way along the A37. Our room was out the back and was very quiet but there was not much of a view as it looked out onto the clay pigeon centre next door. The views to the front are much more spectacular, overlooking the beautiful contryside. The function was good, the food was nice and the disco provided by the hotel was good too. Would definately recommend this to friends and family.

We stayed her for a week, using it as a base to tour sites in Dorset, very comfortable, spacious rooms. Staff very helpful when I needed info on family history for the area.
We had terrific weather for March mists rolling down the road and hillsides so we missed a lot of the lovely views which are so close to this location but when there was a break it was fantastic. On a main road so be careful pulling out but otherwise wonderful stay.
Breakfast in the mornings very good, bar menu sufficient for evenings, but a posh resturant for those who want to go the extra mile.
We were intent on seeing as much of the area so visited a number of places around the area, missing out on the resturant but the menu looked great.
Now I've found it I will return for more famly history visits.

Very high quality stay - room extremely spacious (especially the bathroom!), newly kitted out with a clean, modern feel. Bed was large and very, very comfortable. Plenty of space to do some work and watch telly in comfort. Good value using lateroooms.com (I can't comment on whether it would be good value at the full rack rate). The location is good - very easy to find just off the main road running down through west Dorset (though far enough back to be quiet). It is in the middle of the countryside with views off in all directions. Would recommend highly.

Room Tip: My room was lovely, but my colleague had the room 'over the boiler house' which apparently w...

Situated in isolation on the A37 so you need to drive everywhere. Fabulous views to the front of the hotel with the rear overlooking the clay pigeon range and country side beyond.
This is a purpose built modern hotel. Our room was large with a super kingside bed, touch bedside lamps, well appointed & very clean. All the communal areas were clean and bright.
We were on a KGB deal for Fri/Sat night and had 25% discount off the food bill in the Kings dining room so ate there on the first night and all enjoyed our meals.
The second night we had intended to eat out but found that all the pub/restaurants in the vicinity were fully booked and we did not want to drive further afield as we had been out all day so we returned to the hotel and ate from the George restaurant menu. There was a wedding in the function room and the George restaurant was set aside for a private party and the option was to eat in the bar area but the head waiter offered to sit us in the Kings restaurant as the bar area was very busy & noisy with guests from the functions milling around. The food from this menu was served piping hot & tasty.
Breakfast is buffet style and varied and plentiful and cooked to order poached or boiled eggs were also available.
All the staff were friendly and attentive.
We all liked this hotel and would stay again.

My wife and I stayed here one night during the long weekend in August, 2012.

The hotel is new, located on a busy road with nothing within walking distance. This might be a concern for some but was not for us. The location is actually quite good for people driving as it is only a few minutes to "The Giant" and only 20 minutes to the beach.

The rooms are spacious with flat-screen TVs and free internet. The beds and bathroom are great. The windows are double-glazed so you get a decent rest.

Dinner was disappointing. The web site implies the food is "fine dining" but the restaurant was little more than a function room with tables. There is a set menu (mains £17, 2 courses £24, 3 courses £29). I ordered a steak (£4 surcharge, £21 total) and my wife had a salad (as it was a starter they only charged £12). To me, the service and quality didn't justify the price but they have a captive market.

Breakfast was fantastic. There is an ample continental and full breakfast selection, endless coffee and pastries.

What else can I say? The staff were decent but weren't tested. It's a good place for business, couples, and families and would be even better if they sort out the dinner service.

We stayed at the George Albert Hotel for one night during a short break in Dorset. We needed somewhere to stay within reach of the Jurassic Coast at short notice, and all the B&Bs in the villages by the coast were either booked up or enforcing two nights or more minimum stay, so in the end we booked a double room here. For our road trip the location turned out to be quite good - the Giant at Cerne Abbas is only a smalll detour away, and we were back at the seaside the next day in about 20 minutes.

The hotel is located just off a busy A-road, but the windows are well soundproofed so we did not hear any traffic noise. There was a wedding reception taking place that night as well, there was some noise drifting up from the function room but not to the point that it disturbed our sleep.

The room was very spacious with plenty of wardrobe and other storage space. Unfortunately, there is no minibar/fridge. The bed was of the sort you don't want to leave once you've settled in - it was large with a firm mattress and plenty of pillows. The hotel also offers free internet.

Breakfast was good with a decent selection of hot and cold food.

We ate dinner at the hotel as we were too tired to go anywhere else. This was served in a function room dressed up as restaurant and which completely lacked in atmosphere. I can't remember much about the food, only that I was keen to get back to the room to stretch out on the bed.

If you are looking for a romantic getaway you may want to look elsewhere. If you are looking for a good night's sleep halfway between Dorchester and Yeovil or indeed somewhere to have a party and don't mind the somewhat corny, 80s-inspired decor which looks sorely out of place in a hotel built only three years ago then this is the hotel for you.

We stayed overnight here after watching the sailing in Weymouth. The hotel was easy to locate on an A road near Dorchester. It is a very modern design with communal areas that can be opened up for large functions. The staff at the hotel were incredibly welcoming and accommodating without exception. The room itself was very comfortable and the bathroom clean and smart. The bed was firm but comfortable. Breakfast was amazing with (I'd imagine) locally produced food, really delicious. Our only negative was that if we were staying longer we would probably want a hotel with more character in a more central location. However on this occasion it suited us just fine.
