Just got home from a wonderful few days in Durham. Found this hotel on the internet & booked via their website, which was really easy. Looked ideal for what we wanted & we weren't disappointed. On arrival, the staff were extremely friendly & welcoming. The room was large & the bed was comfortable. Bathroom was small but didn't really matter, it had everything you needed. Some people have commented about the macerator on the toilet but we didn't find it a problem. The food in the restaurant was amazing. We'd booked a mini - break deal, so had a three course meal. My husband had the liver for his main & he said it was the best he had tasted. The portions are generous & we struggled to fit in dessert; it wasn't impossible though as it tasted so nice! There was a pub quiz on during our stay but you couldn't hear anything from the bar from our bedroom. Breakfast was as good as the evening meal, with staff remembering our preferences from the day before. Easy access into town via bus or a pleasant walk. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the staff and we can't wait to go back and stay again.

We dined here for Mother's Day lunch and were not disappointed. The hotel is let down a bit by lack of kerb appeal but once inside it has a lovely traditional feel with wood panelling and fabulous fireplace. The restaurant was busy but the service was excellent and the staff pleasant and helpful. There were three of us and all opted for a different Sunday roast of lamb pork and beef all of which were very tasty and well cooked. The Yorkshire pudding was home made and the vegetables very nice too. This was the best Sunday lunch I have eaten out in quite a while. We liked the place so much we are going for an overnight stay for a birthday treat.

We visited Shincliffe to see a rare bird and not knowing the area found this pub purely by chance. Although breakfast finished at 10am on enquiring at 1130 if they could still accommodate us they immediately said no problem and we had an excellent breakfast with even a vegetarian option for me coupled with exceptionally friendly service and in a very pleasant cosy dining area. I can thoroughly recommend it to one and all

Spent 2 nights. Hotel convenient, friendly staff and good breakfast. BUT really struggled to get back from newcastle before the 12.00 curfew, after which there would have been no way of getting in, and. I'd have been sleeping in the car. It was also very cold, I needed my coat on my bed, and even though the water in the tap was very hot, the shower was feeble and cold, and I only braved it once.

My Wife and I had dinner at this pub when we came up to Durham to visit our Son at the University.
The food was really freshly and well cooked, and was very tasty! Delicious!
The Seven Stars Inn is obviously a very popular eating place with the locals - and I'm not at all surprised.
The Staff were very friendly, and made our visit really enjoyable
I would thoroughly recommend The Seven Stars Inn as a great eating pub.
