The Crown had been recommended to us for the food. The hotel bar looked a little shabby and grubby, but the food was certainly plentiful and the prices were very reasonable, with a very good choice. The beer is kept well, and all the staff are friendly. I realise that this is a family friendly hotel, but there were far too many small children running around to make it a relaxing place to eat in the evening (not the staffs fault, more the parents)The nachos starter that my husband had was impressive, as was the home made steak pie. I was disappointed with the Cherry Bakewell pudding, which was heavy. We would certainly eat there again, for a good priced meal, but it wouldn't be my first choice for the area.

Room Tip: We didn't stay there, so couldn't comment

We stayed at the Crown Hotel for a Mod Music Weekender.NBNW FESTIVAL , chose The Crown Hotel due to its great location to the Muni,
rooms a little dated but but clean and great value for money with a quality breakfast cooked by Noel, we didnt eat there in the evening due to the type of event we were in town for but the smell from the kitchen was to die for and the meals we saw coming out looked really good, but we were there for music and bear maybe next time we will get to try the food at the Crown.
Recommended for location to event venues throughout the town with the R&B Festival coming in August yo wont go wrong staying at the Crown

Room Tip: front room recommended a little noisy at the back when bottling up from the bar

You would be hard put to to find better value for meals than the Crown. The food is not only excellent and plentiful but very reasonably priced. Even the Pensioners Specials are a real plateful! Like a previous revue, my husband also had the Gammon and couldn't finish it! My fish and chips were the best I've had in ages and our two friends had the liver and bacon casserole. Don't get me started on the puddings, the Cherry Bakewell sponge was out of this world! This was all rounded off with excellent service from our waiter Rob. We will be back to the Crown in the very near future

Very welcoming.

Nice atmosphere, good selection of beers and wines, good accomodation and great food and an unbelievable price.

A good place to visit or stop as the rooms are tastefully decorated and the breakfast is to die for.

Recommended by staff at Boundary Mill for lunch. Excellent choice of lunchtime meals I opted for ham salad proper thick cut ham it was. Hubbie had Gammon and was not able to finish it which us a rarity . Very reasonable prices actually bordering on cheap for the portions !!! Staff efficient what more does anyone want at lunchtime

The Crown Hotel was recommended to us by friends, and they were right. We have dined there a few times since and whatever we have ordered has been delicious. Very friendly atmosphere, good beer and good, value for money food.

You can dine in the bar area or in the separate restaurant, there is also a sports bar if you prefer.

This was our second stay at the Crown. If you want clean simple accommodation, friendly staff, and a great breakfast then you should try this one. We didn't have dinner but the dishes we saw coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled very good. We will stay here again.
