Had a wonderful 2 day break - the bedroom was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The residents lounge has a large inglenook fireplace with a wood burner and comfortable sofas. The bar has an open log fire and a welcoming atmosphere. We couldn't fault the food at breakfast and evening and the staff were very friendly. The location was an excellent base for exploring the Yorkshire dales. We will definitely stay here next time we're in the area.

Just returned from a fantastic weekend at The Wheatsheaf. Enjoyed every minute of the stay, excellent service, wonderful food and fantastic staff, so accommodating thank you. Bedroom was very comfortable. As the food was so tasty we decided to eat in both nights, why go elsewhere when you have decent food, great choice of drinks and friendly and helpful staff!

Came across this quaint little hotel whist browsing the deals on a well known deal website. From the pictures we seen online we were sold from the word go.
Although the website deal wasn't available when we called, we got a good deal on the room so promptly booked up there and then.
Travelling from Wales on the day, the weather wasn't brilliant, but the Yorshire dales scenery was still breathtaking, and whislt we passed by some lovely pubs we decided to wait until we arrived at the hotel for lunch........................... and were really grateful we did !

We were greeted by Emily, who was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Instead of the usual having to book in, we were shown directly to our room, and told that we could book in at our leisure, nice touch, as we had spent 4 hours in the car already and was just a tad hungry.

A good selection of local ales were available as well as the wifes favourite cider, so we knew we were onto a winner here ! Had a lovely ploughmans lunch, which had the local Wensleydale cheese which was a nice touch, and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful...... went down exceptionally well with a pint of Theakstons Black Bull Bitter I hasten to add.

Plenty to keep you occupied in the Dales and surrounding countryside if you enjoy walking, or the nearby towns of Leyburn or Hawes offer plenty of choice as well as the chance to stock up on gifts for the folks back home.

Stayed in the hotel for dinner on both nights of our stay, and again the food was tremendous, good sized portions and very reasonably priced. The home made Chicken and mushroom pie was a delight, and the steak was perfectly cooked to my liking.

The room that we were in was clean and quaint, and looked over a nice paddock. Our neighbours, a horse and a few sheep were very good and never disturbed a peaceful nights sleep.
Upon coming down to breakfast we were again warmly greeted, and the full English is a must have after a good nights sleep..... not to mention sets you up for a days walking or visiting attractions.

All in all had a fantastic time there, lovely welcoming staff, great food and a nice bit of History can be found at this place ...................... definatelt will be back soon

Room Tip: The annexe at the rear of the hotel overlooking the paddock offers a nice quiet peaceful rest

We had a lovely overnight stay last weekend, planned at the last minute so we were lucky to get booked in. The place is spotlessly clean and still makes doggie guests very welcome. Restaurant meal was very nice. Everyone really works hard to make guests feel at home and welcome. There's a good atmosphere, and it is rare now to find a village pub still open. They obviously all work hard to make it work. The local football team were in for their Saturday tea of lovely Shepherds Pie. It all added to the feeling of busyness and people really using their local. Our breakfast was really good - tasty good quality sausage and good bacon made it a real pleasure. Overall a great stay in a very homely welcoming local pub.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are not huge, but ours was more than adequate with a better than average ensuite w...

We recently stayed here for a weekend and can't fault the place - staff/owners were friendly and provided good service, also the food was very good - lots of it and was served quickly. Our room, although a little on the small side, was still clean, comfortable and warm. There is plenty of walking to be done and a few attractions nearby also. We would certainly be happy to stay here again and would recommed The Wheatsheaf.

I stayed as part of a walking party on a weekend break. The hotel is very comfortable and welcoming. The staff work very hard to give good service. The food is excellent. My room was a single in the old part of the building and was over the bar, but noise was not a problem, but I have to say that I could hear the folk in the next room at times.

Room Tip: There is a new block at the back of the hotel, which may have better facilities?

We stayed there for two nights Sept 2-4th and would highly recommend it for a visit,it was clean airy, and comfortable. We had our evening meal in the bar and very nice it was the bar staff and the locals were very friendly. All our meals were served quickly and the staff were all prepared to go that extra mile for instance I don't care for the milk in cartons which were in our room but the staff gave me a small jug to take to our room. All in all this was an excellent break and well worth a visit we would go back. The car parking was plentiful and not uneven as someone had mentioned

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade well worth it
