We came to Helmsley not knowing what to expect and have been extremely amazed at this beautiful market town. And staying with Carol at Stilworth House has made the experience all e more memorable. What a wonderful B&B. Location perfect, in the middle of he town with private car parking in a beautiful garden setting. The design of the rooms provides independence in individual stone rooms each adjacent to the garden. Carol is very welcoming with a wealth of local information and lovely sense of fun. Breakfast options are all delicious. If you're coming to Helmsley, stay here! We'll be back...from Melbourne, Australia!

Spent a lovely couple of days in this delightfully homely place, Carol made my wife and I very comfortable and served the best breakfast we've ever eaten in a B&B! The weather was lovely and we spent a relaxing hour (or two!) in the well manicured garden by the fish pond waiting for our friends to turn up. The private parking was a bonus. Would highly recommend :)

My Mum and I spent two nights at Stilworth House and we really enjoyed our stay. The day we arrived was miserable and wet and so Carol put the heating on for us. The beds were very comfortable, the breakfasts were great - my Mum doesn't eat bacon but there was plenty of other choices on the breakfast menu to choose from. Carol has thought of everything - there was a small fridge in our room with fresh milk for tea/coffee, biscuits provided and chocolates by the bed for each night of our stay. Also tissues in the room and cotton wool provided. There is a wardrobe with enough hangers provided to hang everything up. It was very well thought out. Carol was very welcoming and let us borrow her ipad to check the opening times of where we wanted to go. We would certainly recommend this B and B.

Carol had already been very helpful regarding available dates for this three nights booking, so it was no surprise for us to arrive and be greeted by Carol with a very warm welcome. We were shown and assisted to our room, which was No.1 of the garden rooms. This was pleasant, comfortable and very well appointed - and whilst also being extremely quiet it fulfilled all the requirements of cosiness! There were several thoughtful touches, including the printed and verbal information that Carol provided, and the invitation for us to 'just ask'. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful - with care taken over ingredients, preparation and presentation. We had a lovely break in and around Helmsley, and Carol's welcome and hospitality continued from start to finish. So, this review concludes with yet another 'highly recommended' for Stilworth House!

I cannot praise Carol and the B and B she runs highly enough. My daughter and I had a wonderful 3 night stay and every aspect of it was excellent. The rooms are lovely, the breakfasts delicious and Carol is the most brilliant host ;she makes you feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. I usually avoid B and B's, preferring hotels as it can feel a little intrusive staying in someone's home but Stilworth offers the perfect compromise ; independent rooms but a personal and friendly approach. Thanks Carol. We will be back.

We stayed 3 nights over the Galtres festival. The breakfasts were excellent and the rooms had extra little touches such as fresh milk in a mini fridge for your tea in the morning, fresh towells and even mints and biscuits. Carol couldn't have been any more helpfull. I would highly recommend Stilworth House for a break in a beautiful area of North Yorkshire.

My wife and I have just come back from an absolutely lovely two day/one night mini-break in north yorkshire with our little lad Remy who is 12 weeks old.

It's the first time we've done this and have to say we were a bit apprehensive about how it would all pan out as when Remy is good he is very very good, but when he is bad he is a baby possessed.

We needn't have worried though as Stilworth House was the perfect location for our stopover. From the minute we got there Carol was the perfect host, from meeting us in the street to show us where to park to lending us some baby wipes as we had inadvertently run out. (When i say lend, i don't mean she wanted them back once we had used them - that would have been gross).

The room itself was absolutely ideal, it was in an annex in the back garden so the potential for Remy making loads of noise and disturbing everyone was greatly reduced. The rooms were spotless, cosy and had everything we wanted. Breakfast was lovely (and massive) - so we didn't even need any lunch!

The back garden was lovely, with a fish pond filled with Koi Carp (which Remy found fascinating) and a sit in wooden swing with views of Helmsley Castle which is pretty much right behind Stilworth House. Gizmo the dog is a character as well, proper cute little Shitzu.

As for Helmsley itself I am SO glad i chose to stop here, it is absolutely STUNNING - picture postcard perfect. Tons of lovely shops (no Greggs here), tea rooms, a great pub where we had a nice meal (baby friendly too!) and unexpectedly AN AMAZING FALCONRY CENTRE set in stunning grounds where we spent 4 hours and watched two displays.

Overall, I would score the entire trip as a 9.5/10 (and I am a harsh marker). Highly recommended and would love to come back again.

Matt, Hannah and Remy
