“Beautiful, cosy and very relaxing”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

Stayed here with my family after parents had booked it through cottages4u. Location was fantastic, very out of the way and with no phone signal, a welcome stay away from the stresses of the rest of the world. Sue, the owner was very accommodating and friendly and more than willing to help and assist. If you are bringing a dog with you and they are nervous around other animals, take note, the location has a lot of sheep/horses/cattle around the immediate grounds, and our dog Norman was on edge all week. Overall a fantastic place and would recommend to anyone wishing to get away in North Yorkshire.

We booked and stayed here at the end of May and had a very relaxing stay ....the owner Sue was extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. The setting was superb with Helmsley only a 10 min drive away . The cooked breakfast in the morning was of a high standard and filling which set us up for the day . Will definitely be back.

We loved our night here. A great room with views across the rolling hills surrounding the property. Mandy was a great host and looked after us very well. We ate in Helmsley which is only a quick drive and gives you plenty of choice. The breakfast was worth getting up for.

Really enjoyed our night here with our two kids, not a lot to do except explore the local countryside but that's all we wanted, a night away from everything. They allowed us to use the metal detector on thier fields. Idyllic spot. No phone service was perfect. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a quiet night away. Cottage was well equipped.

Omg what a beautiful place we explored the whole of north yorkshire and loved every minute comfortable cottage wuth everything we could want. Sue was friendly and helpful and although we didnt have any signal for our mobile me and my hubby didnt miss it that much. We havent been without the kids on holiday for 20 years (celebrating our 23 wedding anniversary) alone was perfect. Will certainly try to go again.

we stayed at one of the self catering cottage's at Laskill Grange. Very peaceful setting close to Helmsley.
The cottage was welcoming and cosy. Even in January it was warm . Maybe a portable heater in the bedroom would have been welcome to give the room additional warmth.
the cottage was well equipped with all the basic's you could need. Our cottage did not have a washing machine although so did. Would have been useful for wet and muddy walking gear.
I am sure in the spring and summer the setting is fabulous with the hot tub and large gardens.
Biggest issue was the poor wifi connection and no phone signal
we enjoyed visiting Helmsley with its independent shops and plenty of places to eat and about an hour from the coast, so a good location for touring around the moors and north east coast.

I would just like to point out that the free wifi does encompass the majority of Laskill Grange, and having tested it again today, even beyond. As with all these things there are some wifi blackspots. In an attempt to improve this I have employed wifi range extenders/boosters in order to improve both the strength and distance of the signal. Being very solidly built farm buildings there are places where the signal simply will not permeate the thick walls. However if anyone ever needs to access the wifi they are always quite welcome to use the farm house conservatory which is very close to the router and consequently has good wifi reception.

The price we pay for our beautiful location is that mobile reception does suffer and varies from network to network. There is nothing I can do to improve this I'm afraid. Some guests may see it as a problem, others as a godsend. Some of us can rememeber the days when everyone wasn't surgically attached to a mobile phone and we seemed to survive! There is a payphone on site though should there be an urgent need to make a call and many more modern phone can employ the wifi for reception.

A lot of people with love that. Being a city person I didn't like having no mobile phone reception, and poor wifi. Having said that, they're very nicely done cottages run by lovely people. Good place for families and good for hiding from the rest of the human race !

As I have stated elsewhere the free wifi does cover the majority of Laskill Grange, and having tested it again today, even well beyond. As with all these things tecnological there are some wifi blackspots. In an attempt to improve this I have employed wifi range extenders/boosters in order to improve both the strength and distance of the signal. Being very solidly built converted farm buildings there are places where the signal simply will not permeate the thick walls. However if anyone ever needs to access the wifi they are always quite welcome to use the farm house conservatory which is very close to the router and consequently has good wifi reception.

One "drawback" of our beautiful location is that mobile reception does suffer and varies from network to network. I'm sure this is true of many rural locations but there is nothing I can do to improve this I'm afraid. Some guests may see it as a problem, others as an utter godsend. Some of us can remember the days when everyone wasn't surgically attached to a mobile phone and we seemed to survive without them! There is a payphone on site though should there be an urgent need to make a call and many more modern phone can employ the wifi for reception.
