“Absolutely perfect!”
Reviewed 5 February 2014

We stayed at feversham for one night and whole experience was just perfect! From arrival to departure the staff were lovely! Our room was the pool side suite room number 22 and it was just lovely. We couldn't find any fault. We dined outside as we felt the menu was very expensive however the breakfast in the morning which was included in our stay was lovely. I would highly recommend for a relaxing break and we will look foward to returning!!

I would like to start by saying that the Feversham Arms is in my top 3 of quality establishments I have ever had the fortune to stay and dine in. From the outset Sue, who took my reservation, was extremely helpful and understanding of our requirements and how special this break was for all of our party of 6. Her attention to detail and endurance that all our needs we're met made it even more special and we will never forget this experience. On arrival the staff on reception were extremely polite and helpful. We were permitted into the spa early and the team in this area also looked after us to exacting standards. The rooms or should I say suites were absolutely fabulous and something for most hotels to aspire to. Champagne in the library was the icing on the cake before dinner and we were made to feel very special by our waiter, Tom. In the restraunt the food was first class and the Service exemplary. After dinner we enjoyed a drink in one of the suites where we utilised the amazing iPod docking station to listen to a few tunes whilst looking at the beautiful roaring fire which had been prepared and we then lit. Unfortunately the sound proofing on the room was not adequate for someone to complain, and we had only had it on low and for a few minutes, we apologise if we upset anyone and we're upset that we may have caused anyone any offence, as none was meant and we had such a lovely day and evening. Breakfast was fantastic and overall it is an experience I will never forget and hope to repeat next year when I have saved up for the cost, which is worth every penny. Thank you to you all but especially Sue and Tom.

Room Tip: Suites are amazing its worth the extra

Stayed last weekend and had an amazing time. Very well looked after and the staff go out of their way to be helpful. The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Would have given 5 stars but just had one problem. I booked the same treatment in the spa as last time and realised that the last treatment I had was short by 30 mins. That's a lot short!!!!!! Only realised where it went wrong when I had something to compare it to.

This was the second time we have stayed at this hotel and we only stayed one night this time as it was a birthday treat for me and well worth the little over 2 hour drive from Derbyshire.

We booked a junior suite with dinner package, from the moment we arrived the standard of service was top draw.

Our meal in the restaurant was fantastic as was the whole dinning experience at this rate it can't be long before they are awarded a Michelin Star.

Room Tip: We found them very dog friendly

Beautiful hotel, inside and out. First class service from check in onwards. Dinner was amazing, again, as was the service. We stayed on New Years Day for 1 night and were upgraded to a small suite with a real fire, roll top bath and v large comfortable bed. This is the most charming place I have stayed and thanks goes to all the excellent staff who made our stay so perfect.

We had decided to take our first Christmas break away from our families and decided to spend it at this delightful hotel. Our stay started with being greeted by the friendly staff at reception and a tastefully decorated Xmas tree in the reception area, we were informed that our room was not quite ready for us but we had already been informed that we were to take afternoon tea at 2pm in the sun lounge. Our luggage was to be taken to our room by the staff and from then on all our needs were met. We had the leisurely afternoon tea then went to our room, where we relaxed before getting ready for our evening meal. We had the champagne reception prior to the three course evening meal which was wonderful from service to the high quality food. We decided to decline the Midnight mass at the neighbouring church and resided to our rooms where the turndown service to a wonderful nights sleep in the sumptuous bed.
We awoke on Xmas morning to the church bells(magical) and on opening the door to our room the present from the Feversham Arms ( A great extra surprise) very carefully thought out. After breakfast we had a leisurely stroll through Helmsley to prepare us for our Xmas dinner and what a feast it was, we declined the Stilton and crackers and once again were full to the brim relaxed in front of the open fires then resided to our rooms for a nap. We awoke to much surprise still quite full but out of curiosity decided to see what delights were on offer at the evening buffet, once again we weren't disappointed with the food, we asked the staff if we could take some food up to our room this was not a problem and proceeded to fill our plates with the wonderful display on offer, hams, pork pies, breads, cheese and grapes all brought to our room by the friendly waiter.
Boxing Day after breakfast was our choice on what to do, once again we declined the organised walk to Rievaulx Abbey we had undertaken this on many occasions as we have stayed here many times. We are avid football fans and decided to go into Whitby to watch Whitby Fc play there fixture. It turned out to be colder than we thought and left the game early so to get ready for the Black Tie dinner in the evening.
Once ready we went down to the bar to the Champagne reception and chatted amongst friends we had met on the previous evenings. The Maître d had cleverly realised who we were comfortable and made friends with and we were seated in groups of eight which was nice. Once again we weren't disappointed and the night went with a bang (champagne popping).
The next morning after breakfast we were sad to leave and if I could have dreamt of a perfect Xmas stay then this was it, albeit without my family then this was it,the only thing missing apart from the family would have been a slight dusting of the white stuff to make our stay complete. Well done to all involved, the staff were friendly, professional at all times and all went the extra mile to make our stay complete. We'll done The Feversham Arms Hotel &Verbena Spa. :-)))

Overall the hotel is the best in Helmsley and without doubt the spa facility id first class and stands comparison with any hotel offering of a free spa for residents. The sauna is first class if a bit small and the shower superb with the added benefit of a real hot tub out doors and a heated outside swimming pool. I wasn't worried about the fact that there was no gym.

The restaurant was excellent if a bit pricey and the breakfast offering was also excellent with a good range of choice of freshly cooked hot meals.

In fact the only problems were minor and not befitting of a top class hotel. But when I took the time to write to the manager to explain the issues they were either details he chose to ignore, my fault ( like not telling them I wanted a quiet room when booking - we paid for an upgrade! ) or 1 offs that " have been addressed". Not impressed! The hotel was only 1/3 full so what will the service be like if ti is busy?

Room Tip: If you don't want a room on the front with only secondary double glazing to protect you from the...
