Went here after pub with the lads fours of us the service was very very slow and the food all tasted the same then we're told we can only pay by cash only there not vat registered wen I asked for the copy of the bill I think some thing not wright here

Sad to hear you were disappointed with us. We notice that on 31st May 2013 you left us with a review. The title was "FRONT ROOM EXPERIENCE” which means you previously came to our restaurant, so you must know that Helmsley spice do cash only as you came before. It has been decided by our management to do cash only and we apologies for any inconvenience caused. We have clearly posted a sign on our restaurant entrance door stating we do cash only.
We cook on a daily basis and our food is very popular locally. Our head chief is award winning and experienced over 40 years in head chief. Our customers are very happy with unique exotic Indian curries that we provide. Our menu has been designed with a range of many different choices around from the Indian states. All our curries are authentic with a unique different taste and flavour from one another. We use very high quality of traditional spices which gives our food the real taste of India. It is impossible to find the same taste in every curry unless you chose similar curries. For next time before placing an order we suggest you to ask one of our waiter/waitress about the curries you are looking for. We hope to see you again.

We visited on Saturday evening 24th May and after finally being seated waited 10 minutes for a menu, a further 20 minutes before the order was taken and a further 40 minutes before the food was served. This restaurant also offers takeaway and we observed that those who came for takeaway were given priority. If this is the case why do they bother having a restaurant? The food was satisfactory but we will not be returning.
We were traveling home and recommended Helmsley Spice by a Golf Club Steward. The restaurant was full although the very attentive waiter soon found the four of us a table. The popodums and pickle appetizer featured the Chefs own "Red" sauce. Superb! We all had different main courses and all were top draw. The wine was a good "house" and the overall bill value for money. We will definitely return.
Came here for a early dinner with our 8 month year old. Service was really good and extremely accommodating for our little person.
The food was very nice and the saag paneer had some fantastic sized chunks of cheese in it. The meal was reasonably price; just be aware it is cash only but this is indicated on the front door. A cash point is in very close walking distance.
The best Indian meal I have had in a while.Food and service both excellent,nothing was too much trouble.
