Description: PLEASE NOTE THIS CAFE HAS RECENTLY CHANGED HANDS.....DO COME AND TRY US We have recently taken over the helm at The Vine House Cafe at Helmsley Walled Garden. Using produce from the Walled Garden where possible as well as meat and vegetables from local suppliers we offer beautifully presented fresh food (vegetarian meals always available), along with homemade cakes and seriously good coffees. As well as traditional items such as Yorkshire platter, ham sandwiches and homemade soups we also have a constantly changing specials board with choices such as: Harissa marinated Prawn Platter. Melon, Feta, Chilli and Pomegranate Platter. Pasta Alla Puttonesca Tacos de Pollo The cafe is housed in Victorian Glass Houses with vines running through it and has a large outside area with tables and seating so you can sit back and enjoy views of the gardens along with Helmsley Castle. It is one of Helmsley's best kept secrets, just a 5 minute walk from the centre of town. There is disabled parking to the rear and the cafe along with The Walled Garden itself is wheelchair friendly. We are lucky to have lots of space so pushchairs are not a problem and we are dog friendly. (We usually have a dog biscuit on hand to keep the boss happy!) Our stunning venue can be hired after 6pm for private events and parties. Just call to discuss your requirements.

Called in for a cuppa after the castle. A quick look at the menu, coffe each and sandwiches.

My herby mushroom sandwich, came with cous cous and salad, I looked at the price and I though, Pricey. When the butty arrived, god it was good, well flavoured and seasoned, excellent. My wife went for the ham, again she looked askance ate the price but she also was converted. Excellent value.

The coffee was very good too!

Thankyou for the lovely review!

All of our sandwiches and melts are served with our daily house salads which consist of an Asian slaw (cabbage, fennel, cauliflower, horseradish, Greek yoghurt, dill and a touch of mayonnaise) and a kale salad (curly kale, ginger, apple, sesame oil etc..) We don’t serve cous cous with any of our dishes!

But we agree, they are all excellent value. Thanks again :)

I had lunch with a friend here today to celebrate her birthday and it was perfect. Even though it was the hottest day of the year so far we sat under a lovely big umbrella and we both ordered the goats cheese salad from the specials board and two large glasses of refreshing homemade lemonade. The service was quick and the staff were really nice and very efficient and the food was fabulous. The setting was lovely with a lovely garden centre would really recommend a visit here and one of the best things is it is dog friendly.

Thank Karen G

Lovely setting next to the walled garden, with some tables in the glass house. Great coffee (had some awful machine coffee in N Yorks so was really pleased with this) and tasty cake at reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Perfect to stop for a while to relax on a sunny day

A great lunch served by friendly staff. The food was very well presented and the salad accompaniments were the best I have ever had! Highly recommended if you're in the area. Was a little pricey but I have no problem paying a little more for quality.

Popped into garden centre and decided to have lunch here. What an excellent choice, I had the best salad I've ever had which included lots of lovely fruit such as pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, avocado and feta cheese. We sat inside with our little dog Molly under vines, remanded me of Greece! There's an excellent choice for vegetarians which was great for me as this rarely happens!
Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, if you're a vegetarian like me, you will not be disappointed!
