A very nice Sunday lunch had by all - delicious temura'd vegetables and squid and very nice swordfish... ambience would have been better had there been more than 4 tables filled as we had some loud neighbours...and we were the ones with children!! Would definitely return

I had sword fish, it was the best I've ever had. Home made humus with the breads was totally delicious. Service excellent. Nothing to complain about- unusual for me! Can't wait to go back. Definitely recommend.

Went to North Yorkshire for a weeks holiday in April and booked for Sunday lunch at The Sandpiper Inn. Leyburn. We were in Northallerton over the Christmas holiday and went just for a drink on Christmas Day and said we'd book for lunch on our next visit as we had been told it was 'not cheap but good'. What a dreadful disappointment it was! We booked for 1.30 and arrived a little earlier and had a drink in the Bar and was given the menu.it was very limited, and there was no other roast other than beef 'rump'. Then the Barmen came over and told us that the beef was off/ finished. As my husband only wanted the beef we said we'd rather not stay and were somewhat surprised that at 1.30 there was no more beef, especially as it wasn't busy at all! He went to speak to the Chef and came back saying that there was just 2 portions left?? My husband asked if it was rare and he said it's ' as it comes'!So we ordered one beef thinking it'd probably be medium, and I ordered the Haddock. The fish was just about ok, but the beef was awful! It was 3 lumps and really well done,( we actually took it back for our dog!) The vegetables weren't good either but the Yorkshire pudding wasn't bad? To crown it all the beef dish was absolutely swimming in gravy! One would expect a jug of gravy separate to serve yourself as most other places do!The Staff were nice but untrained and we really couldn't be bothered to complain especially as we were on our own in the restaurant for the latter half of the meal. All in all it was the most disappointing lunch we had whilst there and for around £50 we certainly expected better. With all the lovely pubs and restaurants in the area we wouldn't go back again.

Gorgeous Sunday lunch, staff were very friendly and attentive. Only disappointment was the burnt yorkshire pudding that came with the roast beef in which cinnamon had been added into it (it was inedible). Apart from that fantastic meal, would highly recommend.
