stayed in the bunk barns which were clean and comfy. The landlord was very accomodating and the pub has nice home cooked food and atmosphere. It is not 5 star accomodation but it is not 5 star prices.

I stayed here with a group of friends whilst we tackled the 3 peaks walk. Our party was booked into one of the "bunkhouses" which has berths for 6 people. I've always considered myself a realistic sort of a person and though expecting a basic "get your 'ead down for the night" type of place I was not prepared for the hovel which awaited. The adjoining bathroom/toilet facilities were run down and the shower head broken. Considering that most of the pubs income probably comes from walkers, many of whom presumably stay in the bunkhouses, I can only assume that there is very little return trade!

Room Tip: Only consider if no alternatives!

The location of the station is stunning. Right in the heart of the Yorkshire Three peaks & an ideal starting point for the challenge.
We have visited the pub a few times in the past but never stayed. The beer & food was good then.
This time with a few friends we decided to stay in the bunk house which is an annex of the main Inn.
The bunk house accommodates six people
The bunk house itself is a dilapidated half attempt of a barn conversation each bunk house has a strong smell of damp & guest what it is.
The cleanliness of the place is well below any standard
The bunks are hand built & if you are less than 5ft in height then they are ideal.
There are two light fittings with only one 40w bulb in one of them. The gaps in the door let a great draft in & it whistles in the wind to a great tune.
The ablution services are a joke you have a single communal shower block which consists of a single WC with stains, single wash basin with no plug & a single shower full of black spots (mould) with a broken shower head which is great for walkers as all that they want is a good shower after a long & hard walk over the fells.
If all the bunk houses are taken then these facilities have to be used by 30 people which is not very good or clean.
The smell of the cess tank is unbelievable
On a positive the Bar & the beer is good but the food is a little bit like "mums been to Iceland"
In my opinion I would walk up to the waiting room on the Carlisle side of the ribblehead railway station and stay in there as it is cheaper, cleaner, warmer, smells better & has a better view
Avoid at all costs

Room Tip: take a tent

The accomodation is excellent for it's given rating. Sometimes I think people expect 5-star accomodation and 2 michelin stars no matter what the official rating is.

The staff are friendly and welcoming, and take pride in the place, explains why there are so many of us loyal guests that return again and again, the most recent entries in the guest book when we stayed echoed our thoughts.

. The accommodtion is comfortable and clean - we bag the 4-poster bed room everytime, the peace being so rural is perfect.

The local surced food is lovely and such generous portions, good basic english fare that hits the spot. This is our hideaway when we get a weekend to ourselves. Just waiting for them to get their wedding licence so we can book the entire place for our special day.

This was far below any acceptable standard of basic accommodation. Staff is not able to behave in a friendly way. The stay was on a saturdaynight and the bar was and ground was dominated by group of barbars gulping beer through the hole in their head, stuffing it with food and when not busy by that there came a lot of indefinable loud sounds out if it. After closing time it went on at the camping ground with a big fire. Both starving out at about 4 am. Staff did nothing and when they did something the result was zero. Horrible experience. If you like such nights, this is your place. Otherwise look elswhere, don't step in, my stay was hell !

It wouldn't be anywhere near the top of my list to return to but it did give our middle-aged walkers much to laugh about for the rest of the week. Our twin room had a shower cubicle in the bedroom, another guy had a four poster and the other room had a water bed. Bizarre. The rooms were OK and good value.

The food was OK, although a few tummy troubles afterwards, and the beer was fine. The bedroom window view with the sun rising over Ribblehead Viaduct was stunning.

Myself and seven friends stayed in the bunk house during our Dales Highway Walk in May 2012. I can only confirm what has been previously written in the other reviews. The bunk was dirty, run down and urgent need of a serious upgrade. The pub was not much better. The previous reviews tells it all. You have been warned. Give it a miss.

Room Tip: Stay over in Ingleton!
