Description: The Old Hill Inn is an ancient inn of great character, part of which dates back to 1615 and the other part 1835. Originally a farm, then Drovers inn, now specialising in delicious home cooked food and excellent puddings. A family of chefs run the establishment, three working on the savoury side, and Colin, a famous pastry chef and sugar sculptor extordinaire has spectacular sculptures on display. An interesting place with log fires and beams, where Winston Churchill used to stay for hunting, shooting and fishing holidays. Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, nestling between Ingleborough and Whernside, with fantastic views from the superb en-suite letting rooms. An ideal location for a cosy meal and also catering for parties. There are many walks from here eliminating the need for a car if one wants solitude and space, and it is also an ideal location for anybody interested in the local wildlife - birds and plant life especially. We have a woodpecker family living here!!

My wife, her sister and I ate (and drank) here last Friday and Saturday night as we were staying nearby to do the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. They had four good ales on, including two from the Settle Brewery which I hadn't tried before. We enjoyed two lovely meals here - I had the rabbit on the Friday and the steak on Saturday whilst my wife enjoyed the salmon burger and the lamb shank respectively. The staff were very friendly though the service was a little slow due to them being pretty busy with the number of walkers in there on both nights.

Stayed in the motorhome on the adjoining caravan site - great view towards Ingleborough and good location for visiting Hawes. Site was spacious with only 5 pitches taken, some road noise during the day but peaceful overnight. Had a really good meal in the pub on the Saturday night. Old hill Inn is dog friendly in the bar area (always a plus for us), we tried the rib eye steak and lamb - both were excellent. Well kept beer and reasonably priced wine selection with welcoming staff and friendly atmosphere. Will be returning...

I've long rated 'The Old Hill Inn' and this past weekend did not disappoint. Try the rabbit casserole or the steak pie. Or come to that any of the food on offer. Desserts are sublime.

Nice atmosphere, old fashioned pub with good beer and pleasant conversation. The bar is full of local artifacts which help to engage the curiosity.

The building itself is a little tired, the staff a little unusual, the food, WOW.

A totally unexpected find, the chef is to be commended on the quality of the food produced. With a little money spent on the décor and some better lighting, this would be one of the best places to eat in the Dales.
