Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The guide with us was very professional and knowledgeable and made sure everyone could hear while he explained about the different features in the cave. Was stunning in the cave also. Only gripe was it was over to soon

First visited about 4 years ago with my son, went back recently and still find this place amazing!!!the staff are friendly and ready to answer any questions you may have, allow at least 80 mins to visit as you are taken aprox 1 mile underground, one of the hidden gems of yorkshire, well worth a visit, hard hats provided but can be a bit cold inside the caves,so would recommend a jacket.great for kids and adults, great in the photos but stunning in real life.

Stayed in a local hotel and was advised to go here for a day out as a couple. The guide was very knowledgeable and was able to answer lots of questions, tell stories and give explanations that everyone could understand. The caves were authentic (or at least authentic to what is safe!) so it did get a bit wet, cold, slippery and low at times so you need to bend down so I'd advise suitable footwear and clothing (I found out the hard way that a dress and dolly shoes weren't appropriate!).

We were in a group of about a dozen, which seemed to be a splinter group created from the large numbers on the 12pm tour. With hindsight this was fortunate as we were always close to our guide who pointed out all the various features, and who gave us much insightful knowledge. However, as we passed much larger groups on their return trip, we felt that given the narrow passages and sharp bends, many of the tour members would have been unable to benefit from being in the guide's close proximity.

Whilst the group sizes has the advantage of not turning visitors away, or making them having to wait for a later tour if the next one is booked up - the groups in my opinion got too large, even when forming splinter groups. More money for the owners though who probably do quite well out of it given the number of visitors we encountered.

Tall people beware of the reduced height sections, it can be quite uncomfortable!

So many customers and not a spoonful of customer care to be had. The staff were rude, abrupt and ignorant. The tour was rushed to get the most customers through the door and at £9 per adult £6.50 for children theh must be making a tidy packet.

The tour guide could only be heard by the few people closest to her and she didn't wait for the group to gather before starting her speel.

The caves themselves were stunning but other places can give you a better experience with a much more friendly attitude.

Disabled group members were told the could not go in because they would be too slow and would cause a trip hazard. Staff showed a clear lack of understanding about disability and an ignorance about dealing with people.

They had four tours in the cave at one time. This was in my opinion unsafe for two reasons

1. the passageways were too small in places for one to get through easily you had to squeeze through so when two groups tried to pass each other both groups splintered into several groups without leaders

2. In a cave where it can fill with water in 30 min four groups of 30+ people are far too many to have down there at one time especially since the tour took 80 minutes

I wouldn't recommend a visit. And we certainly wont be going back.

Thank you. As you have seen, the natural configuration of the rocks requires a certain level of walking fitness in order for the cave route to be negotiated safely. We are obliged to advise visitors accordingly. The level of the cave stream is monitored continually, both by staff in the cave, and by electronic link to the cave office. Although we know that some visitors would like more time underground, for the comfort and convenience of all we limit the tour duration to ninety minutes. William
