We stayed for a wedding, and had good service and enjoyed our stay, if you want something different then this is for you this is a proper castle. The wedding was smashing but could have done with a P A system as couldn t hear the wedding. Cream teas are fab.

Such an amazing setting and one of the best cream teas I have had - and I've had a few! Lovely relaxed service and left us to enjoy the superb views and scenery accompanied by peacocks no less! A real hidden gem.

The castle and grounds were beutiful and the owner was very friendly and helpful.I see a lot of comments saying its "unkept" and such, but it's what you expect from an old building. The breakfast was good, there were a lot of options for cereal, cold fruit and yoghurt and of course the option for a cooked breakfast which we went for and it was very nice. Overall, great value and a great stay.

It is a well kept secret that Banwell Castle has a lovely terrace, peacocks and a view to die for. When the sun is out, there is nothing better than sitting there with a lovely pot of tea in front of you and one of their nice scones. They are also not rushing you and you can really enjoy your time there.

We have stayed here so many times this feels like our second home, we only wish it was
William was as lovely as ever and made us feel so welcome. We went out in the evening, only to find that the pubs had finished serving, so we picked up a Chinese takeaway in Banwell village and took it back to the castle. William provided plates, cutlery, wine glasses etc, and we settled down in the sitting room. Warm, cosy, full, if anyone had thrown a blanket over me I would have happily slept there.
Our room was lovely, not our usual but the furniture and the view were just as good, and the bed was like a pair of old slippers - comfy, coochy and the kind you don't want to leave.
Breakfast was as good as you would get in a 5 star hotel, and we had coffee out in the sunshine watching the peacocks. A real escape and just what we needed.
Thank heavens for William, a gem in the midst of the hustle and bustle of daily life and a true gent, nothing is too much trouble for him.
Thank you again William for your hospitality and your company, we shall see you again soon.

I took my wife to Banwell Castle on the weekend of our anniversary, and we had a lovely time.

I actually had booked the wrong evening (I booked the date of our anniversary, but should have booked the evening before which was a Saturday). William was very accommodating and happily changed our booking to make up for my mistake, which was really great service.

We went out for dinner as the Gatehouse had a party on, and when we got to our room William had also left us a present to mark the occasion, which was thoughtful and unexpected, and really made our evening perfect.

The Castle itself is as you'd expect from an iconic, but slightly eccentric, piece of English history. There's lots of character, interesting wallpaper and somewhat bizarre pieces of furniture and decor around the place. Some parts of the plaster look a bit tired and flaky, but it's clean and - as my wife put it - the sort of place Jonathan Creek could be filmed in.

It's not a sterile travel lodge sort of place, but personally I hate staying in travel lodges anyway. If you want a unique experience then you should definitely visit here.

Room Tip: Ask to see what's available when you get there
