“Value for money but thin walls”
Reviewed 2 February 2014

Stayed one night. Room was fine at first. Decked out along the lines of a Premier Inn. King size bed, chair, desk, on suite. TV, tea and coffee in room. Had a juliette balcony and french windows looking out over the car park and the mill and hill behind. Room was very clean and sufficiant towels provided. The only isue was the lack of soun proofing. We were there out of season so not many people were in the hotel. Unfortunately you could hear every tap being turned on in the adjoining rooms, every wall socket being switched on, every toilet flush, even the coat hangers rattling in the next door rooms. Anyone in the corridors could be heard and any conversations in the corridor or ajacent rooms could be heard. We clearly heard our neigbour say, "You dirty, dirty girl!" Whether this was to a pet, a child or a partner I do not not know but you have been warned.

The breakfast is well worth the extra money. Full english is served and as as much cereals, tea coffeee, toast and preserves as you can eat. There is an option for continetal breakfast if thats your want, but I cant comment on what that was like.

All in all not a bad hotel if you can put up wiht the noise and it was very good value. What it will be like in a busy period however remains to be seen.

I stayed here on a business trip because it was convenient for a construction site, and was much cheaper than other hotels in the area. That is primarily for out of season stays when they clearly want to keep business up. Great facilities and my room was adapted for wheelchair users including bathroom, though that was actually slightly less convenient for me. Great food as well but dependent on the chef being there.

Room Tip: Many family rooms for families in holiday season

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and were very impressed. Staff were all friendly and willing to help; Our room was very good....comfy bed, everything worked and it had a quiet outlook towards fields. Tea and coffee supplies were generous. The hotel has its own restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The menu is good and we enjoyed our meals. It is always nice to eat at a place where the chef comes out and talks to the customers. Last night , chef came over before the meal witha tiny sample of the Thai Green curry so that I could have a taste before he served it up !
Well Done, Wookey Hole Hotel.

We recently had a short family break for the weekend stay here. The Wookey Hole hotel is in a perfect location in the centre of the village, it is in a central locational to all the attraction. Couldn't fault the hotel as it had everything you wanted for a short break including free wifi!! Getting mobile phone reception is very hard in the hotel apart from that the hotel is a bargain!.

Room Tip: Family room as you get more space!

I stayed at The Wookey Hole Hotel with my husband, 2 young children and 2 friends. We booked the New Year's Eve package and had an amazing time. We arranged an early check in for just £5 and sat rives just before midday. We was quickly allocated our room and given tickets for the attractions. First we went for lunch at The Wookey Hole inn which I would highly recommend, great food and very friendly, we then then headed over for a tour of the caves. The guide was great and kept the tour interesting even for my 5 year old. Then it was time to get ready for the party. We headed to Captain Jack's restaurant for 6pm and was shown to our seats for the evening. We had great seats near the stage. The entertainment was ok, but the disco was fab. The best was our children had full access to the indoor play castle for the entire evening and as this was situated in the same building with only one way in/out they were totally safe. We only saw them to eat and at midnight to see the new year in. The good served on the evening was also great considering it was mass catering. At midnight we all went outside for a very good firework display. All in all a great night. We also stayed the next night as part of The Wizards package. We had the pleasure of seeing the circus show which is a must see if you stay here. The children that are part of the show are highly talented and work very hard. The evening was very quiet as it was New Years Day. The evening meal was served in the hotel restaurant and as it was so quiet there was just 1 member of staff running the bar, taking food orders, bringing out the food and clearing tables. This resulted in quite a wait for drinks etc... But this was only minor and did not spoil our stay one bit. The food and drink in very reasonably priced and a lot cheaper than anywhere in London. My family and I will definitely visit again in the coming year and would make no hesitation in recommending this great, clean and friendly hotel.

We had a great family short break stay here over new year of 2014.
The Wookey Hole hotel sits in a pleasant location in the centre of the village after which it is named, overlooking the buildings and facilities of the popular cave attraction. As well as the Wookey Hole caves, the location is excellent for exploring the Mendips, visiting Cheddar, Glastonbury and the nearby city of Wells. The hotel looks like it was completed very recently and as a result all is bright, shiny and new. Furnishings and décor are simple and restrained (some might say plain or 'vanilla') although there is nothing restrained about the life-sized witch that greets you in the entrance lobby!
Do not expect five star luxury, plush old-school charm or chic and boutique. Think more in terms of a decent quality Travelodge, Premier Inn or Holiday Inn Express and you cant go wrong. The fixtures and facilities are no better but where this hotel scores over it's rivals is in terms of room space. A family of four has to squeeze into a standard room with most of those hotel chains (pull out the sofa-bed and say goodbye to the carpet!) but here the family rooms really are a good size for a family.
We stayed in the Luxury Family room - the one with the curvy balcony. The word 'luxury' might be a bit misleading in terms of furniture and décor but that 31m2 of space (plus balcony) is certainly worth the extra cash. Other first floor rooms have Juliette type balconies. The real star of the show is the Witch's hat VIP suite - a two storey tower at one end of the hotel with sleeping mezzanine over living space below.
A quick scan of the fire plan on the back of our door showed four other rooms on the first floor of similar size and more interestingly, five pairs of standard rooms with interconnecting doors. Now that is something that definitely appeals to us, with two growing children - a pair of interconnecting rooms from as little as £60 per night!
We ate in the restaurant which, whilst it won't win any awards, was more than adequate. It features a limited menu of simple dishes that are cooked well and nicely presented. No complaints about the price though the bar really could do with some draught beers.
We found all staff to be pleasant, helpful and courteous during our stay.
Our room was spotless, had a good firm bed (Queen-size?) and the shower was excellent - powerful and easy to use.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are quieter though those at the front have the best view across village and Cave a...
