“Was ok but had the potential to be good.”
Reviewed 26 February 2014

Had a reasonable meal at Pheasant having been a favourite haunt in our youth that included a great well cooked sizable steak, although they unfortunately did manage to mess our order up so only one main came originally while we had to wait for the second, which was a Thai curry and due to the error was probably a little rushed in preparation and this came through in the taste.

Overall was well handle by the second waitress but not so well by the first waitress who made the mistake and also unfortunately tried to charge us for a drink too many but was spotted and corrected without complaint.

Overall was ok and had the potential to be good so may try again.

“4 cars on car park = FULLY BOOKED”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

After roaming the area to find somewhere to eat on a Saturday night, we stopped off here at around 7pm. There were only 4 or 5 cars on the car park, but when we arrived and asked for a menu at the bar, we were told "Sorry - we are fully booked"
We even asked where else we could go to eat, and were just simply told us to "go into the centre of Wells". Definitely weren't interested in the custom. Real shame as there are some good reviews on here....

MAKE SURE YOU BOOK BEFORE VISITING ON A WEEKEND OR DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

“Food excellent and so generous, you need to plan a hike for afterwards...”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

We visited the Pheasant for my Grandma's birthday lunch (on a Saturday). The pub was fairly empty, but the fire was roaring, it was warm and we were made to feel very welcome. Especially as the relatives of the Landlady were in the next room to us prepping veg for the evening meals, it felt very homely! We even got a tour of the impressive skittle alley which apparently can be hired free of charge for parties or meetings.
The food was quite spectacular, we had lasagna (with a whole ciabatta's worth of garlic bread), 2 Wookey burgers (they buy steaks from the local butcher, then mince and make them themselves) topped with thick bacon and blue cheese and HUGE onion rings, a chicken ciabatta and chips, and pumpkin tagine with wild rice - all served with herb salads. Everyone loved their food, and couldn't finish it at all! All the food was around the £8-£10 mark so very reasonable.
I would thoroughly recommend this place and fully intend to come back again!

“Evening out at Pheasant Inn”
Reviewed 19 January 2014

I have been to the Pheasant Inn twice recently once as a couple, and once as a group of friends for a birthday meal. On both occasions the food was outstanding and the service good. The chef obviously knows his cuts of meat and how to cook them properly/ The portions were generous absolutely delicious. Cant wait to go again!!

“Good pub food - in the friendliest of the village pubs”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

The most friendly of the 3 Wookey pubs - always others here to chat to. Very tasty good food, worth a visit for a nice meal or just quick bite to eat - steaks are very good-
It feels like they want to welcome you and are more than pleased to help, unlike the other 2 village pubs , who can't really be bothered any more-( shame)
