We stayed one night. On our arrival we were given tea, cakes and biscuits in the garden and made very welcome. Our double room with shower was very tastefully decorated and furnished, immaculately clean with a most comfortable bed. The linen in the bedroom and bathroom was top quality. The room was just a bit small. There was plenty of room to park the car on the premises. The English cooked breakfast was well cooked. There are Pubs fairly near and Wells is only a very few miles away to find places to eat. A great place to stay near plenty of attractive places. I would certainly recommend Highgate Cottage and would stay there again if we were in the area. JJI

We really appreciate your review, and are glad you enjoyed the tea tray in the garden. Our other two rooms are larger than the Mendip, but one has a bathroom, and the other with shower was already booked. If you come again (and we would be delighted if you do) please ask for Room 3, the Burtle. Thanks, Sue and Keith.

We were recommended by friends so we felt.this would be a suitable location for a West Country tour.
On arrival we we're warmly welcomed by Keith & Sue who offered tea ,cakes and biscuits, which we took in the garden ,I asked if they had time to join us ,which ,as it was mid afternoon ,they did.
Our room was tastefully decorated and spotless,as is the rest of this delightful B&B
Breakfast options were plentiful and well cooked, Adequate car parking on site .A peaceful spot to
base oneself in the Wookey ,Wells Cheddar area We would highly recommend Highgate Cottage . Location & hosts make great places to stay .and I have no hesitation in saying that you will find
both here .

So pleased that we lived up to your friends' recommendation. Your suggestion that suitcase stands might be useful was an excellent one and we have already put in an order! Thank you for your kind comments. Keith and Sue.

Stayed at highgate this Summer. It is the epitomy of what an English bed and breakfast should be! The place is gorgeously decorated, the rooms are very comfortable and clean and the breakfast is delicious. What makes it very memorable are the owners. They are very welcoming - bringing us tea and juice outside so that we could enjoy the sunshine. They are really friendly and easy to talk to - you feel like you are staying in a friends house for the weekend which is what a B&B should feel like. Close to Wells and the lovely Somerset countryside.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, particularly about the decor : we spent a lot of time last year renovating the cottage and it is great to be told it was all worthwhile. Keith and Sue

Words can't express our lovely 1 night stay at Highgate Cottage. It was the high point of a weekend in Somerset. We had booked the Days Inn but then found we had been allocated a 'smoking room' and so decided to find a B&B instead. Luckily, as fate would have it, we found Highgate Cottages and they had a vacancy. Keith & Sue were very welcoming and immediately offered us tea on the lawn which was delightful. We had a good night's sleep and then a charming breakfast with the breakfast room doors open onto the garden and sweet bird song. I can fully endorse the previous reviews and highly recommend anyone who is in the area or passing through to stay a night or more. The other reviewers have said what I would have wanted to say as well-- In a word, Perfect! If you are booking ahead get Keith & Sue to reserve you a table at the good food pub that is within walking distance as it gets fully booked in the evening very quickly.

Room Tip: Back room has a shower, front room a corner bath. Both lovely.

Your kind words are much appreciated. We also have a third room downstairs which was unavailable the night you stayed : it has a shower en suite. Hope to see you again soon.
Sue and Keith.
