We stayed here for one night for a friend's wedding in Godalming and I was a little dubious based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. We stayed in Room 9 at the top of the hotel overlooking the back. It was lovely and quiet, the room clean and tidy, a bit cluttered, but served our needs pefectly well.

Had our breakfast which was very nice, very simple and not much choice, but we enjoyed it.

My partner and I stay in lots of hotels for leisure and business. We have both stayed in other hotels that charge and claim far more than the Godalming hotel and have really let us down, but the Godalming Hotel was just right.

Also given that it's only a couple of miles to Guildford I think it's a very reasonable price for its location

Booked a room at the Godalming hotel on Tue 18 Jan. Needed somewhere to stay the night before going to see Top Gear filming. Perfectly pleasant stay, my girlfriend and i stayed in room 3 on the ground floor and it was more than aqequate in size. The room was very clean and my only complaint would have been that the bed was a bit too soft, but that's just my personal preference. Thre staff were friendly enough, but there was a slight issue with the language barrier. Overall a very pleasant stay.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, rooms very clean, service very good, breakfast very good. In fact the ONLY complaint we would have that we could here the next room occupant using the bathroom in the early hours (they had been at a wedding)! But all in all we would certainly go back again. Ten minutes walk to the lovely La Luna (Modern Italian) Restaurant and other restaurants whick we didn't manage to try but will the next time.

There aren't many hotels in central Godalming and the Surrey area is generally not cheap but nevertheless this place offered reasonable value for money. According to our taxi driver the hotel has been completely refurbished and updated in the last couple of years but the new owners have managed to keep some of the 1930s stained glass and tiling to give it a bit of character. As a former airline stewardess I have sampled some hotels in my time and I have yet to find a more immaculately clean and spotless bathroom - granted it was really little more than a shower-room but it was absolutely pristine!

This place was a rip off in price . The pictures on the site are very misleading .
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone . You cannot move in the room . overgrown untidy back garden .Main road position . Try elsewhere before you book this hotel

I invited Surrey Trading standards to my hotel. Their findings are that my photos are respresentative of the hotel and overall he was quite impressed by us

The average price of a double room is 65 GBP and this includes a quite comprehensive Full English cooked breakfast.

We pride ourselves in offering the best value for money in the area. In comparison beakfast at the Premier Inn costs 7.99 GBP per person. Our Wi-Fi is free and so is our parking. I think we are very good value for money and will continue to offer value for money

We chose this property for it's location near most of our family on our trip back home from Canada. We booked well in advance on the internet and included a booking for my sister who was to stay for one night ( we stayed 3 nights), on arrival we were told that my sister, who has trouble walikng any distance would be in the single room on the top floor, which would be impossible for her to get to, we were on the ground floor at the back, my husband was then told that the top room was in fact not available after all, after speaking to the owner on the phone, my husband was then told that my sister could stay at another property in Guildford or we could all share a room!. That is when my husband said that if we didn't ge the rooms we booked and paid for we would go elsewhere. That is when the manager said that he hated his job there and was not responsible for all the problems they have. The rooms were so small with nowhere to put your bags, the en-suite bathrooms are even smaller, the TV didn't work, no clocks anywhere,we had to go ask the manager if there was any heat as the rooms were cold and the radiators cold,he said that he had no control over the temperatures, it was the owners, I said I was freezing so he adjusted the central thermostat, you get one pillow and a quilt for the bed. The breakfast I had to admit was good and the manager did a good job, the problem seems to be the so called owner, where ever he was!
For a so called Hotel ( should be B&B) with 18 rooms and only parking for 3 cars at the front, the back had parking for another 3 cars but the narrow gap between the Hotel and Vet nextdoor would only allow a tiny car to get through.

If a guest has mobility problems we are happy to accommodate this but I need to know in advance. Leaving it to arrival means I have to ask other guests if they would mind changing room.

I offered this group ground floor rooms in a guest house a few minutes drive away. While they were thinking about this one of my regulars offered to swap rooms so the group could get rooms suitable for them.

Having gone to so much bother it is dissappointing to have such a bad and factually incorrect review. We have 4 parking spaces clearly marked at the front of the hotel and another 10 at the back. TVs are working fine and my manager is very happy in his job and has been for the past 3 years.

We travelled from Canada and booked over the internet...although this hotel looks lovely, they have obviously used a wide angled lens for photos because the rooms we saw downstairs were very small. When we arrived after a LONG journey, both the "manager/cook/cleaner" asked if we would changed rooms to a "double", then when we refused ( we had booked a twin room) the owners came along and asked the same question. PLUS we were told we had to pay up front for our 12 days stay..I questioned this but was tired and hungry so foolishly agreed BEFORE we saw our room..big mistake! You couldn't even put our suitcases down flat on the floor, the room wasn't big enough, no cupboards and only an open box like wardrobe for our clothes, with 4 hangers. We had asked before booking if there was WiFi as we needed to use our computers, we were told YES and as you see from their advertisement it says FREE WIFI in rooms..not true!! we questioned this when we couldn't get onto our computers and the OWNER was very rude to us and blamed our computers. We didn't actually stay one night in this worse than "Fawlty Towers" hotel. We asked for our money back and was refused..so every night we went back to the hotel to ask for our money back, we eventually received 7 days of our 12 with threats of the police being called if we didn't leave their hotel. Their booking system on the front little table you see in the picture noted that our room was booked each night we went back. This hotel is mostly used by trades people and is probably fine for that, but certainly not long term...I should have listened to the review by the man who went for Valentines' day with his wife...This should be called a Bed and Breakfast, and a bad one at that...I would not recommend this place to anyone mainly due to the rudeness of the owners....and a word of caution, don't pay up front, because if you don't like the hotel you will have a hell of a time getting your money back...the "manager/cook/cleaner" person is not authorized to do this and has to get a code from the owners to reverse any monies, very poorly run, ok if you are a workman and your company is paying and you don't mind sharing a bed...

I personally greeted this couple on arrival.

They were very unhappy to find they were far away from their quite remote course venue with no public transport links and faced taxi bills of 30 - 40 GBP per day. Somehow they wanted me to take responsibility for this.

Once in their room they complained about their Wi-Fi connection. I took my own laptop and showed it working perfectly well and I got it working on their laptop too. I did point out that reception depended on their laptop too which they seemed to take as an insult to their computer.

I offered them an alternative room closer to the Wi-Fi router but they refused and demanded their money back. It was clear they just wanted a hotel closer to their venue so I re-imbursed them according to the hotel cancellation policy and they were only charged for the first 2 nights of their stay.

Obviously this was not enough for them.
