“Parking is a real issue”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2012

Didnt eat so cant comment on food.
Room was clean enough
rubbish tv only 5 channels.
Excellent internet (lots of modems)
Breakfast was pretty poor, bare minimum and not to the highest standard.

MASSIVE PARKING ISSUES
They only have 5/6 spots for a hotel and pub. I parked in the car park in a none designated spot. Woke up to a clamp on my car. £250 release fee. Wouldnt mind but the sign only said £125 but after taxes and other fees they quickly ramp it up. While not strictly a hotel issue it really does make goin to this hotel with a car not viable. The hotel staff didnt want to know about my problems.

If youre getting a bus/train/walking then stay here. If coming by car don't bother, its really not worth the hassle there is a wonderful golf complex near by with pool and sauna etc with plenty of parking for only £10 more. £65 for this hotel is just too much in my mind parking or not. As I Write this I am staying in a boutique hotel in a beautiful area for £60 inc breakfast, much better value.

Room Tip: Don't choose this hotel.

On my trip to England the Kings Arms and Royal Hotel was one of my favorite hotels. I thought the room was very comfortable and slept well. We had no troubles with noise and the room was very clean. Also, the internet and television worked great. I also quite liked the bathroom, it looked recently refurbished and there was a bath separate from the shower. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and the service was quick to help. I definitely would reccomend this hotel if you're staying in Goldalming.

Room Tip: We had room number one, and it was very quiet and well-kept.

We loved staying here.

We had the best room in the hotel, with a small balcony, a fantastic roll-top bathtub, and a big shower. The room itself had a comfortable sofa, easy-chair, large cupboard, and dresser. The large bed was beautiful, and very comfortable (But sadly quite noisy - I think the headboard may need tightening to the rest of the bed)

Only downside was that the bedsheets and I didn't agree the first night, but after a quiet word they were all changed, and was fine from there on in.

The room has been renovated in a lovely manner. Extremely comfortable stay. Looking forward to staying here again.

Room Tip: The extra expense of the bigger room is worth it.

We visited this place end November and we stayed in a large double room on the top floor over-looking the street. The room was in an poor state and lacked maintenance with cracks everywhere, constant paint chippings all over the bed from the head and foor rests, bathroom fixtures requiring repairs etc..
Communal areas are in a poor unkept condition and the entrance was constantly full of external signage being stored in the corridor that was not used.
The restaurant and bar area are far from enticing need a total overhall although the breakfast was nonetheless reasonable.
The general feeling from staff is not at all welcoming (bar a few exceptions) and we felt more of an intrusion than a guest on several occasions.
I realise that this is a period property and I could have accepted the cracks and "old" decoration but this place just seemed so un-maintained and cared for.

Reading some of the other reviews here, this hotel sounds awful. Personally, while it would not be my choice for a leisure break, while on business in Godalming, it is a reasonable place to stay.

OK, so the check in is a little haphazard but the rooms (I stayed twice in two different single rooms) are clean, of a reasonable size and with a reasonable bathroom.

You are not paying top dollar to stay here and it is an old town centre hotel so it is bound to be smaller than say a premier inn room but for the occasional night, it is perfectly satisfactory.

My husband and I had a lovely stay in a Superior Double room. We enjoyed the hospitality of the pub restaurant, and had a very good value meal. The serving staff made us very welcome and I would definitely stay again. We booked through laterooms.com and paid £84.

I read the other reviews of this hotel, and I must say I thought of cancelling, but I thought no give them benefit of doubt, which proved right. I booked online a deluxe room which I got, excellent size lots of character, clean and tidy, so what there wasn't a phone we all have mobiles, if you want something go and ask them downstairs and they are more than willing to oblige. When we arrived mid afternoon, there wasn't anybody on reception but again pop your head round the corner and the staff are behind the bar and were straight with us.

We stayed on a Saturday night it was very quiet, no issues with the bat or the street.
Parking was fine there were spaces around the back, ALSO VERY CLEAR SIGNS stating get a parking permit from reception to park here so we did, why somebody has been clamped is beyond explanation, common sense should prevail.

I would stay again.

Room Tip: Room 3 would be room of choice
