My wife and I stayed in Trough Cottage with two friends last week. The parking is off the road in a private courtyard, which makes unpacking all your kit nice and easy. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable and very well appointed. Everything in the cottage is of a very high standard. The views from the front of the cottage extend out over the valley and are so typical of this beautiful area. The owners of the cottage live in the adjacent farm and simply can't do enough to make your stay enjoyable; true Yorkshire friendliness, even though Viv is actually a Lancashire lass really!
We had some grand weather during our short stay and were able to get out for a decent walk out over the moors. Splendid scenery followed by a glass of good beer at The Fleece Inn in Holme on the way back. We also went to The Fleece in the evening, which being Thursday, was 'pie night'. They did have the standard menu available, but what the heck, it was 'pie night'...the food (pies of course!) was excellent and very good value. Overall, Trough Cottage is a real home-from-home set in beautiful countryside and well worth a visit!
