My partner took my to this lovely guesthouse in holmfirth for my birthday in February.
The setting was wonderful, the view was amazing, the house was gorgeous and we pretty much had the place to ourselves, as the owners have an apartment round the back.
It is so perfect and picturesque - deathly quiet, which resulted in one of the best nights sleep I have had a in a long time.
We stayed two nights and have breakfast both morning in the dining room, which as we were the only guest was our personal dining room. The food was beautiful and expertly prepared - very tasty indeed.
The owners were very friendly and extremely welcoming.
We had a full morning playing chess in the sitting room, followed by a leisurely stroll down into holmfirth. Its quite a steep hill down from the guesthouse, but taxi's are always available from the centre.
I would highly recommend and can definitely see us returning in the future.

We stayed one night at Sunnybank last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. We pre-ordered afternoon tea which was delightful and sat a bay window with a superb view. Sue provided plenty of mouth-watering treats, divine table setting with china and cutlery to match. It was clear that Sue and Mike are serious about ensuring their guests are comfortable and happy during their stay and they certainly delivered. The gardens are stunning and far exceeded expectation, as did the standard of our rooms and a gorgeous breakfast. Well done to you both, we hope to see you again soon!

We booked this B & B for the weekend of the Tour de France months in advance knowing it was on the route and before Sue & Mike took over the running of the guest house. There was an issue with the booking which Sue sorted for us but we were a little apprehensive after a certain amount of to-ing and fro-ing (not her fault)

So the situation is beautiful, up a narrow lane from Holmfirth centre and up a steepish drive. There is parking for guests. Quiet and calm. The Victorian Villa is sympathetically decorated and furnished. Spotlessly clean and so well equipped - White Company soaps, fluffy towels, eye make up remover, ear plugs....just about anything you could dream of. Certainly puts some so called 5* hotels in the shade. Guest lounge looked great for a wet afternoon, especially as Sue can whip up a traditional Yorkshire Tea...I was almost hoping for rain!

Good breakfast with freshly cooked ingredients and plenty of tea and coffee. Breakfast is served in two sittings so if you need a particularly early get away or want to lounge in bed it might be worth having a word beforehand.

Sue and Mike were helpful without being crowding - you just know Mike would be able to help you plan a good day out walking and they could help you with anything you needed to know. They arranged and extra day parking for us so we could leave the car to watch Le Tour and also had left a Le Tour welcome pack in our room for us.

When we want a weekend walking we would not hesitate to return.

An elegant home where you are made very welcome by Sue and Mike.
Holmfirth is a good place to stay, it is in a nice area with lots to see, especially if you enjoyed the TV programme Last of the Summer Wine.
Sunnybank is close enough to walk into the town, yet far enough out to not be disturbed by traffic noise, especially when sitting in the garden enjoying the view..
Our room was a good size and tastefully decorated, it is the little touches such as having fresh milk available when making tea in the room, or wine glasses supplied when having drinks on the patio that put it above others. The complimentary bottle of water every day was appreciated.
Breakfasts are superb with a good choice on the menu. The communal table for 6 guests means booking means booking a breakfast time slot in advance. It also makes it easier to chat with other guests.

We stayed at Sunnybank to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Mike & Sue were excellent hosts, and nothing was too much trouble. Very comfortable room, lovely breakfast and a nice sunny patio where we enjoyed our afternoon drink. Had a fantastic meal at The Spiced Pear, which was only a short taxi drive from B&B. Would definitely recommend you stay here.

As soon as we arrived at Sunnybank it was clear we were in for a treat. This is no ordinary Bed & Breakfast but rather something that is that extra bit special, a bit of luxury. We were greeted by Mike, one half of the husband & wife team. He was warm and friendly without being over bearing and you got the impression that nothing was too much trouble for him. After meeting his wife the next morning it was apparent that they are both perfect in their roles as hosts. We stayed in the Valley View suite and were not disappointed. The room was fabulous. Attention to detail was obvious and nothing had been missed. The bathroom was sheer luxury, the view was incredible and we could have stayed forever. We will definitely be returning to Holmfirth and to Sunnybank.

Room Tip: Valley View suite will not disappoint.
