“stunning setting and great presentation.”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

Whilst not large, Corgarff Castle is on a hilltop with great views over relatively remote countryside. The castle has been in parts set up as would have been in 1750 and occupied by government forces. Have visited several time, the first when I was about 4 and it has always been a favourite of mine.

“Worth visiting just to take in the location”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

Not all Scotlands castles are about content. This one ranks highly for location. A visit here does not take much out of your day and is worth a detour if you are travelling through as we were.

“Closed again”
Reviewed 15 December 2013 via mobile

Called here today. Aberdeenshire Council brochure 2013-2014 stated open weekends in winter. Not True!! Called last year on a weekend bur notice on gate stated 'closed due to snow'. We got there no problem and so did another disappointed couple. This year no snow so expected no problems. However notice by gate now states only open in summer. Perhaps I won't bother trying to visit this castle again. Only 100 mile round trip!

“15 minutes should about cover it”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

This castle is more impressive from a distance. Be sure to approach from both directions on the A939. Once you get to the castle, there's not much there. We went to a number of castles maintained by Historic Scotland. You can skip this one.

“A castle in the middle of nowhere”
Reviewed 1 July 2013

We had passed by on many previous occasions but this time we had Hungarian visitors with us and they wanted to stop and have a look!

The castle is small but gives a true representation as what it must have been like to have been a "redcoat" stuck in this bleak part of Scotland miles away from anywhere.
