We stayed for 1 night to break a long journey. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, some interesting period pieces of furniture in one of the rooms! It was a short walk to the main street and the owners had given us recommendations for places to eat - the carvery at the Queensbury was very good value. Breakfast also very good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the property as the noise from passing cars can be heard if the window...

I stayed at The Old Rectory with my fiancee as it was ideally located as an overnight stop en route to a wedding at nearby Comlongon Castle.

We were met on our arrival by Dave (one of the proprietors) and immediately shown to our room. He was very friendly and gave us some ideas of where to eat in Annan for that evening.

Our room was large with a well equipped en suite. The furniture is somewhat old fashioned but I guess that matches with the building.

The breakfast the next morning was served by Dave and was very tasty and set us up for the day. There is a good choice including cereals, porridge, fruit juice, kippers and the full Scottish breakfast.

Dave an extremely amiable host and I would have no hesitation in recommending The Old Rectory to others.

Service good: very friendly and helpful proprietors. Good breakfast. Rooms could do with a bit of a freshen up, but are probably more appealing to those seeking tradition with a bit of chintz.

V convenient for a pit stop on the journey to or from Scotland. Quiet and comfortable room, with private secure parking for the car. Good breakfast. We had a problem with the car - our host could not have been more helpful - spending time on the internet looking for tyre dealers.
