“Fine for a three night stay”

I like nice hotels and usually have high standards when it comes to accommodation. So while the rooms in this hotel were more basic than I usually go for, and, yes, the corridors were tatty, the room was clean and my two friends and I were actually quite relaxed about the things that some people complain about such as the dogs wandering about. They were nicely behaved and the owners encourage guests NOT to feed them tidbits. The only thing I didn't like was the beds were a bit narrow. The food was very good I have to say. Nice beer battered fish, crab salad and so on. Breakfasts good too. Given that the accommodation wasn't of a high standard I'd have expected lower prices but on the whole, not bad value.

Room was Ok, and we did have a good evening in the bar.
Big buts through. The whole place was shabby. Two large black labs were wandering around during breakfastt sniffing and wanting food. Totally uncool.
Someone was banging drums in the bar area until aftrer 2:00 in the morning.

We were attending a local wedding so spent very little time at the hotel. We were in Rm8 which was clean and spacious enough for our travel cot and luggage. Room and ensuite were clean and in reasonable condition, bed comfy. We didn't go into the bar so can't comment but the hallways were quite tatty and needed some tlc. The dogs were fine, as long as you like dogs. I wouldn't rush back, and if I had been on holiday I would have been disappointed. It was hugely overpriced at £83 a night but the breakfast was very good. That and the view were the saving graces of the hotel. The owners were nice people and it looks like they are perhaps upgrading bit by bit but it needs quite a lot of work yet.

Not the best of welcomes, shown to a grubby room, changed to a twin, not much better but at least brighter.Poor furniture, used quilts to hide springs coming thro the mattresses, bathroom had the basics.Dogs a nuisance, begging for food at the dining room and breakfast tables, had full run of premises including the kitchen. The dogs made full use of the settees in the bar. Dirty cruets and table numbers, breakfast waitress handling cutlery by the blades not the handles. Food was quite good, staff nice. A neglected and run down premises, desperatley in need of a good scrub and a ton of TLC.
PS not the dogs' fault, speak to the owners

Room Tip: No tips necessary, would recommend this hotel is avoided.

Stayed 2 nights to nip up the nearby munros - very friendly welcome, grand room (No 6) overlooking the loch - nice chat withe locals over a whiskey - landlord has 2 very friendly (although a tad loud) labradors - nice hand made quilt on the bed - super breakfast.

Room Tip: room 6 - nice quilt and super view

My partner and I didn't stay here, as we were staying with family locally. We decided to pop out for a drink and a meal and have to say what a fabulous place! Traditional, warm, homely, welcoming and great value for money. We chatted to visitors and locals alike and had the best time! Gorgeous views and wonderful hospitality - worth the long drive for that alone, but this surpassed all expectations. Thank you, Nigel and your team.

When so many of the good places in the Northwest Highlands have either sold out or gone under, it's a privilege to discover one you didn't know about before. In the main bar the local people sit at the bar alongside visitors and the chat goes all ways. For drinks you can get anything you want - lager, real ale and a great range of whiskies. Little Miss Missy Dragon - if you don't want the smell of toilets, just don't go into a back bar. Anywhere. And if you don't like labradors you should keep away from the Highlands completely. They are working dogs, and the best of them. They probably have a few opinions about you as well, what a pity they can't share them with the rest of us. It was my pleasure to take Briagha and Hamish (the labs) up Sgurr a Gharaidh, didn't have to tell them a thing. Also my pleasure to meet a lot of very nice people in the hotel during my stay. The owners, and all the staff, couldn't do enough for you.
