We had the very best time with Bill and Eileen (and their two Beagles). It was truly a magical day on Rum, and I don’t think we could have had better guides. Trout fishing, ponies, Highland cattle, wild goats, an impromptu dinner, and breathtaking views. If you have the opportunity to take a trip with Minch Adventures, just do it!

While celebrating my 30th birthday at Knoydart Hide, my fiance and I booked a day on the boat with Billy to explore Loch Nevis and visit the stunning Isle of Skye. Blessed with beautiful weather, it was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip.

Billy picked us up from Knoydart harbour and we set off. His knowledge of the surrounding area and history is second to none and we had such a laugh with him throughout the day. We hauled lobster pots, baited traps and took in scenery that has to be seen to be believed. We are both Scottish but had to continuously pinch ourselves at what we were seeing, it was just out of this world.

Billy planned a bespoke day for us, which included a stop on a beautiful remote beach where he lit a fire, cooked us a delicious lunch and we had a taste of his favourite whisky. The water was ice blue and like something from a film. I've showed my photos and videos to so many people since returning to London where I live, and people can't believe that I took them in Scotland.

I can't recommend Billy and Minch adventures highly enough. We almost didn't book this trip as we weren't sure if we would have the time, and have both agreed that it would have been a disaster to miss it. Undoubtedly the highlight of our trip and my 30th birthday - thanks Billy, we'll be back!

We did a trip along Loch Nevis and around to Airor where we stopped off for refreshments at The roads end cafe. The whole trip was a great experience. Billy is a very knowledgeable Skipper who knows the waters like the back of his hand. He knew so much about the history of the area and had some interesting stories to tell. We pulled lobster pots, saw seals and did some fishing. We couldn't recommend Billy and Minch Adventures highly enough. By the way Billy we did the MTB trail the following day as recommended, That climb out of inverie is a b@&£#. Enjoyable though.
If you want a great adventure the Billy is you man.

Hi Darren, good stuff I am happy you took up the challenge, very happy you didn't eat all carrot cake at the Airor cafe the following day!

Cheers Billy

This was not their usual adventure. It was a custom tour I had arranged with Bill and it was perfect!

Bill picked us up from the Armadale Ferry area and took us on an interesting/informative boat tour of the Loch Nevis area. We stopped at The Old Forge for a drink then he took us back to our hotel in Mallaig.

The vessel was huge and spotless. It was a cool day and breezy out on the water so we opted to sit inside most of the time.

Bill (the captain) knows his history and really makes it come alive. He's quite entertaining too- in a good way! (Be sure to ask him about the TV show Deadliest Catch) His wife Eileen (his deck hand for the day) was friendly and delightful.

We brought a picnic with us and we all feasted while we toured. What an amazing time! I highly recommend hiring Bill and just wish we had time to do one of his full day tours.

We had a day out with Minch Adventures on Loch Nevis. We had a fantastic time. Billy and Eileen were our skipper and deck hand- it’s not many that boast the local bank manager as the deck hand.
Billy was a wealth of local information. He knew everything about the fishing industry; the history from Vikings to Jacobites and Second World War mica mines; the local landowners, gentry, the local gossip plus all things about the local wildlife.
He even took the time to change our day from Friday to Saturday at the last minute because it was the better weather day. Highlight of the 5 hour journey was a stop to visit Tom McClean a retired paratrooper and adventurer who has rowed and sailed across the Atlantic. We inspected the minute craft Giltspur that had done the Atlantic run and also saw “Moby” his whale like boat that had sailed around the UK. Tom took us on a tour of his outward bound style property and told us lots of interesting stuff.
Eileen then treated us to homemade burgers and Billy gave us some malts to taste.
Whatever the weather Billy will enthral you on a day out. This is not a quick spin round the bay this is an in depth look at all aspects of highland life and history from a really engaging speaker.
