We were in Barry's Bay for a wedding after looking at the offerings in the area and reading reviews we decided on the Ash Grove . We opted for the pricier Newly renovated suites the rooms are pet free and roomier , newer just sounded like money well spent for $149 plus tax. Some of our family opted for the less expensive regular rooms and they were not happy old &run down. The little bit extra you pay for the newly renovated room is worth it. They are not ultra luxurious but they are very nice and very roomy a gas fireplace nice shower didn't use the jacuzzi tub but it's there a frig microwave small table living room very nice, we both had a wonderful sleep in the very comfortable Queen bed. No complaints very satisfied. The breakfast in the hotel was fine prices good, the staff as noted are very friendly and we enjoyed our stay. . I would stay there again and recommend it to my friends without question.

Room Tip: Don't cheap out spend the little bit extra for the newly renovated suites you won't regret i...

Stayed at Ash Grove for a one night get-a-way on the Easter weekend. This was not exactly the quaint accommodation it appeared to be in pictures. The wallpaper and furnishing were not just outdated, but in need of repair. Paper was peeling from the walls in several places. Other spots had mould showing through. The bathroom had black mould all around the tub.
There wasn't a blow dryer provided, which you tend to expect in a North American hotel and even if we had brought our own there was a sign posted in the bathroom not to use one unless you first turned off the small electric fire (which appeared to be our only heat source).
On a positive note, the view from the front window was definitely spectacular. There was also a full size 10cup coffee maker and coffee provided for a full pot! Something everyone appreciates in the morning, rather than the usual little one cup brewing station.
The adjoining restaurant is also excellent. Staff were very friendly, extremely efficient, and the food was delicious. The prices were also very reasonable. We ate both dinner and breakfast there.

Out of town motel with external door to room and parking outside. We had a basic room which was adequate, however the furnishings were well used. There was a fridge in the room. The view of the lake was lovely and a picnic area with benches in front of the motel was very quiet when we visited. A restaurant is onsite, but we didn't use it. Free wireless was available. A convenient overnight stop-off on trip after visiting Algonquin Park.

Five of us stayed a night during a 5 day snowmobile tour. Had rooms 1 and 2 and found them clean and comfortable. We cooked dinner on arrival in the well equipped kitchen in room 1 and enjoyed a great breakfast in the restaurant the next mooring. It was right on the trail and met our needs very well.

Found this spot on Trip Advisor. It accepted dogs, and the price was right. We checked in and were pleased by the cleanliness and comfort. We were in the regular rooms, not the luxury suites, due to having the dog (understandable). It was nice that they turned on the heater in the room to warm it for us, even though it wasn't terribly cold out.
Had supper in their on-site restaurant, which was delish! Saw that they have a gluten free menu as well, and decided to bring my GF mom back for another visit.
We inquired about a bigger room to accommodate all of us, and the gentleman kindly took the time to show me the kitchen suite, where we could still bring the dog, and have separate sleeping rooms for us and my mom.
We were looking forward to returning, but unfortunately we came down with colds, so will have to put it off for now.
Didn't mention that the view of the lake was super! And in warmer weather you can sit out on the patio to eat. Lovely!
Thank you Ash Grove Inn, we will be back!

Usually our family stays at large chain hotels because we are always keen to find a safe, clean and affordable place to stay. We are just nervous about independent lodging [brand marketing does work :-) ]

But, we stayed at the Ash Grove Inn on the labor day weekend and it was great!

This motel/Inn is extremely clean (We stayed in the very affordable luxury room). The accommodations are modern and nice. Even the view from the motel room is wonderful though a rainy day meant we missed the sunset :-(

Highly highly highly recommend! And the restaurant is pretty good too!

My husband and I went to the Ash Grove Inn on September 6th to celebrate our anniversary. We rented one of their new luxury suites. It is a motel setting but the suites are located in their own strip and are very quite. The room was big and had a sitting area, table, chairs, mini fridge, microwave, double sided gas fireplace, 2 person jacuzzi tub, flatscreen tv, dvd player hook up and queen size bed. We were on the end end unit and the window from our bed was facing the lake across the street.
Outside front of the room, there was a small bistro table and two chairs but it was to cool outside for us to sit out.
We included in our package our dinner and breakfast. The food was fabulous. You could order anything off the menu for both meals and what was even more wonderful for me, they had a full Gluten free menu, which included sandwhiches, wraps, pasta and even dessert. I would go back even just for the food.
Our server at dinner was friendly and kind and at the end of the meal, she packaged up desserts for us and our tea so we could bring it back to the room. Our breakfast server was not overly friendly or accommodating but at this point, we enjoyed our stay so much it didn't matter.
I would really recommend if you are in the Barry's Bay area to check out this great little place.

Room Tip: As for the meal package. For an extra $80 we had two amazing meals with no limitations. Also, if y...
