I've been hiking in Algonquin Park frequently for 15 years, always staying close to & entering through the West Gate (western side of Algonquin). This past January I decided to explore the east side of the park and stay closer to it. I found the Pinewood Inn on line, found their website to be thorough and booked. My arrival was greeted by Yvette, the owner, so friendly and helpful. My room was clean, cosy and a very good value. The location was perfect for my needs. I could get into Algonquin through the east gate easily and get further up on the north east side of the park as well. Late one night I got stuck in a snow bank on a back road in the middle of nowhere. I called Yvette, she found a towing company for me who was CAA compatible and sent them out to save me and she kept checking to make sure I got back safely. Now that's service. I will stay there again when ever I want to explore that side of the park. Thanks again Yvette! YOU RULE!

Ron, thanks so much for taking the time to write such a glowing review! We hope that you will be making more visits to the East side or 'the quiet side of the Park', lol. We are so glad that your little hiccup in the snowbank was just a setback and nothing too serious. I know you will be out exploring again (good for you!!). Looking forward to seeing you again!

We needed a place to stay while travelling to beautiful Barry's Bay. We found this hidden gem that offered a very clean room and a comfy bed. They have many of the amenities of a cottage for a tremendous value. With Lake Kamaniskeg in your backyard and Madawaska Mountain Ski hill just up the road, Pinewood Inn is a true four season getaway spot! We met Yvette and Mark who made us feel at home. They clearly care about the quality of service they provide to their guests and provided invaluable information to help us make the most out of our stay in this charming town.

My 60 something parents booked a room here while we tried other accomodations. Ever since the visit they can't stop talking about how nice the mattress was, how fresh and cozy the room was. When our portable bbq broke down they allowed us to use their full size one. I must say after seeing how nice their accomodations were, in comparison to ours, we definitely know where to stay next time we visit the area. One question... what kind of mattress do you use? Because to quote my mother she "dreams of it often."

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review. It did gives us a bit of a chuckle. We do get quite a few, very positive comments on our mattress's, although not quite as 'dreamy' as yours! lol. We are so pleased your parents were comfortable and that you will stay with us at some point! The mattress's are Serta Edgecombe. We bought top of the line beds because we wanted our guests to be VERY comfortable...so it worked! Too well maybe? ;)
Thanks again and we look forward to your next visit.

My husband and I recently had to travel to Barry's Bay for a funeral, and chose to stay at the Pinewood Inn because of it's location and price. On past trips the motel didn't seem like much as we passed by, however we were working with a tight budget, and the price was perfect.

We got much more than our moneys worth! Yvette and Mark were very accommodating, and the whole check-in process was very efficient. Yvette had plugged in the mini fridge before our arrival, and the room felt like the AC had been ran for a while. After a 6 hour drive, this was such a wonderful feeling. The room was spacious, and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The room had a coffee maker, microwave and the mini-fridge...the backyard even had BBQ's in case we wanted to use them.

At night we enjoyed the backyard, sitting at the table, staring up at the night sky. In the morning I sat in the backyard enjoying the glimpse of the lake, and enjoying the morning sun. There was plenty of seating.

The Pinewood Inn was a great place to retreat to after the events of the day, and I'm so glad that we chose to stay there. Despite the nature of why we were in Barry's Bay, the stay was very enjoyable. Thank you to Mark and Yvette for a wonderful stay, and all the best in the future. If we ever find ourselves in need of a peaceful place again in Barry's Bay, the Pinewood Inn will be our first call!

We pulled out of Algonquin Park and needed to find a place to spend the night. The Pinewood didn't look like much from the road, but we were weary travellers. Mark was so welcoming and showed us the rooms. Very clean, comfortable, free Wi-Fi. We didn't visit the backyard, but did head up the street for dinner at the Ash Grove. Very happy we stayed here and wish Mark and Yvette all the best. Great innkeepers!

Thank you very much for giving us a try! We are pleased that your stay was pleasant and restful. We took on a big challenge when we bought this motel and the rooms had to be addressed first...the 'curb appeal' is coming, lol! We hope you have a chance to stop in again! Glad to hear we are doing things right.

Once again we had a very enjoyable stay while visiting relatives at the Valley Manor.
The hosts are very friendly and accommodating and remember you from previous visit which was soon after they took ownership.
The beds are awesome!!
The room was super clean and there have been upgrades in fixtures etc since our last visit.
We like the fact there is a rear door from each room to access the relaxing back yard.
Highly recommend it!

The Pinewood Inn is not fancy but it is clean and offers some unique amenities. The rooms are certainly small but very clean. The WiFi is free. The most unique thing about this place is that the rooms have a front door entrance from the parking lot and a back door leading to a lovely retreat with muskoka chairs, picnic tables and BBQs. There is a trail leading to the beach. The owers are friendly and very accommodating. We highly recommend the Pinewood Inn.

Thank you Marie for the kind review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are always working on making our guests experiences better. It should be noted that we do have larger rooms available for guests that would prefer more than one bed. As money and time permits the rooms and yard will continue to evolve into a better and better space....and we will never compromise on the clean! :)
