Owner description: Located just 15 minutes from Charlottetown, Stanhope Golf & Country Club overlooks the cliffs of Covehead Bay, PEI, and is just minutes from north shore National Park beaches. In the heart of the "Beaches" tourism area, this mature, well-maintained PEI golf course has been in play since 1970. Designed by Robbie Robinson, it has a definite "links" feel that offers all golfers a true test of skill while still providing genuine enjoyment.

This classic links style golf course offers the best value currently on PEI. The course is kept in pristine shape and offers a variety of challenges on every hole. Greens are kept in great shape all year long and roll very good. The age of this course shows through in the beauty of mature trees and classic hole shapes which is a refreshing change from some newer courses in the area.
This is a great classic golf course that I always make sure to play a few times a year. Truley a gem of a course and a must play if you are visiting PEI. It is also located near the north shore which has lots of beautiful beaches, which is great for making a day out of your trip to Stanhope.
The management is also very accomodating to large groups, we have our work golf tournament there every year and look forward to the service we receive every year!
Can't wait to play there again this year!

I golfed Stanhope twice last year. Once early in the season and than again late in the year. Both times this mature course was in superb condition and offered an excellent round of golf. The scenic views on practically every hole offered a distraction if your game wasn't going how you would like. Great value for money.

Terrific golf course for the green fee. Most holes are fairly wide open and greens are a challenge. If anything, the wind will play a factor as it sits right on the north shore.
Proshop and clubhouse staff are very friendly! You'll find the grill to be quite good too!

Will play there again in 2012.

Although I regularly play Stanhope Golf Course throughout the golf season, last June my work colleagues and I organized a best ball tournament which was played at Stanhope. The experience was good for various reasons. First, the course was in good shape, even for June, which is relatively early for the golf season. The greens, fairways, and bunkers were all well cared for. Also, the layout of the course made for some interesting shot making decisions and one had to be strategic about their club selection and choice of shot. With a big, risky drive, some of the greens on the Par 4s could be reached in one shot or with a short pitch for the second shot. Many of the holes had elevations and were along water which provided for some great scenery. After our tournament, we were able to enjoy a good meal in the Pro-Shop/Restaurant. With it being just 15 minutes from Ch'town, it was easy to get out and still get 18 holes in, although the evenings were still long and it was June when we had our tournament. Although it is tough to compete with the government courses on PEI, I would suggest that Stanhope is great value for the buck - a quick round, well maintained course, nice scenery, and friendly staff.
