Calibishi was a great hotel. The biggest pro for this hotel is that it is right by a village so my boyfriend and I were able to meet the locals and fall in love with them and the Island. There are local stores for bread, "bakes" and rum. They offer breakfast for free and that was great. The cook Peaches was amazing and accommodating. Most times there wasn't many different options, but she was truly sweet. All of the help was really sweet. They made us feel at home. The rooms were very spacious. There is no AC but there is always a wonderful breeze coming in the room so that was never an issue for us. The property is really nice and it is located near hodges beach. There were always locals hanging around, but everyone was very nice.

We stayed at Calibishie Cove for a week in July '14, and could not have been happier. The only audible sounds here at night are tree frogs, crashing surf and wind in the trees; it is very relaxing. The accommodations are top-notch with a friendly, attentive staff. The complimentary breakfast is excellent, always accompanied by local fruit, and served on the veranda outside your room. At night, enjoy the sounds as you lie under a romantic mosquito net and feel the trade winds wash through your room. It doesn't get better than this! Ken, Sandy, Peaches, Geraldine and everyone else on staff....you are all top-notch! What a treasure this is.

We stayed at a few hotels before we got here and it was a good way to end the vacation. after staying at some very charming and rustic locations across Dominica, it did feel nice to end the whole thing off with a very comfy bed. The rooms are all quite wonderful here and the food is decent. Its actually walkable to a few restaurants and even town (though the uphill climb would be hard when its really dark).

My only annoyance was that breakfast was on the patio which sounds great but with the number of insects that had camped out every morning (some large bugs), it was difficult not to worry about them falling all over the food. Though it never actually happened and I was being paranoid.

Though I'm not one to write reviews - my fiance and I had such a wonderful time in Dominica that I felt compelled to leave a few words.

Calibishi Cove was absolutely lovely, with the nicest people. We expressed interest in hiking to the boiling lake, and the B&B manager connected us with a great tour guide. Peaches, the cook, always greeted us with a brilliant smile...plus she made tasty food. (I wouldn't rely on the menu options stated- which makes sense given the availability/convenience of items...and this small bit of unpredictability just added to the charm.)

I will say - if you've been to other islands - don't be fooled regarding distances on Dominica. It took us two hours to get to Roseau. But I wouldn't trade our location for anything.

As others have said, the views are breathtaking, and very nice from even the most economical of their rooms. But - really - the whole island is a dreamy adventure. I'll stress "adventure" - especially when it comes to driving...but that's a write-up for another site :)

My wife surprised me with this trip for my birthday: a return to Dominica where I'd attended medical school 18 years ago. I had spent very little time on the Atlantic coast of the island but that was a mistake. Calibishie cove and the town of Calibishie are the perfect place to enjoy the island. We arrived a day early and stayed in the Rain Forest room which was nice and even had AC. The next night, we moved up to the penthouse. I had to pinch myself to see if this was a dream. It was perfect. The views were like none we'd every experienced. We loved the open air concept and the constant breeze meant we didn't miss the AC. The plunge pool and out door shower were welcoming after returning from long days exploring Dominica. Daily breakfast was a nice touch and wonderful food. The hike to and from Hodges Beach, just below the inn, was a little tough but we found many beautiful beaches that had easy access during our stay. Rent a car...it's a must to truly see the whole island. The village just below the hotel is very friendly and safe. I can't imagine any where more perfect to stay in Dominica than Calibishie Cove. We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Stay in the penthouse!!!!

We stayed here for 5 nights during on honeymoon in Dominica. 3 of the nights were in the Penthouse and it definitely worth it if you decide to stay here. The other rooms fell a lot less private but the penthouse is the entire top floor of the building and has the most sweeping views you will find. Peaches the cook is very nice and will bring you many local tea's and fruit every morning in addition to your breakfast order. We did 2 excursions through Calibishie Cove, but as others have noted if you are doing anything in the southern part of the island it is a day with at least 2 - 3 hours of driving. Overall it was a great experience as we had a rental car and could explore the island on our own and always come back to the lovely views Calibishie Cove offers.

The views of Calibishie Cove could not possibly be any better. You can hardly see another rooftop when looking out across the balcony and the only other view is the ocean. It was a beautiful and serene retreat. Some of the more adventurous parts of the island (rappelling and hiking the boiling lake) did involve a bit of a drive, we found that the drive was worth it to stay in such a beautiful place.

Room Tip: You just cannot beat the penthouse views, though our friends stayed in the room with A/C and seemed...
