In the heights of Calibishie, Jacoway Inn offers a calm and spacy guest house; Carol, the owner, is vey friendfull, and has great & innovative breakfasts to offer every morning. The guest house itself is wide and very clean; available for up to 3 persons.

This was the best stay on our journey. After some weeks of travelling, overnighting in different hotels - it felt like coming to visit a friend living far away. Carol-Anne is a great personality with Irish blood. Even though she might seem strange in this black community you will find out that her heart is beating in the same rhytm as those you see in the village down the hill. After many years in the little village of Calibishie she familiar with the everyday life of this Dominican village.

The Jacoway Inn is in the middle of a Banana plantage overlooking the village. From the room upstairs you can get a glimse of the sea. It's surrounded By a lush garden, where you can relax and have the best breakfast ever, with homemade marmelade and juices + Nick's delicious bread. We hope we could be back soon and next time we'll buy a couple of Carol-Anne's marmelades, that she also sells in her little café in the village.

I travelled in a party of 3 to Dominica. We spent 7 days at Jacoway Inn in the Lower level apartment called "The Gardenia". The pros and cons were as follows:

Pros:

- Host and Hostess- Nicky and Carol Ann did an exceptional job to make us feel welcome. Carol Ann went above and beyond to assist with anything we needed. She possesses excellent customer service, is warm, friendly and very hospitable. They live in the adjacent building.

- Meals- We were greeted with a basket of fruits in our room upon arrival. Breakfast is included in the price. The menu is variated with homemade breads, fruits that are in season, yogurt, teas, fruit juices, granola and additional items. You can request dinner at an extra cost. Carol Ann is a fabulous cook. Each meal we ate was extremely tasty, seasoned and catered to the needs of the members of our party. If you want an alternative to meals from the guest house there are a few restaurants in the town of Calibishie and environs. We also had meals at the Coral Reef restaurant which has an excellent sea view, grocery, great food and service at an affordable price.

- Location- The guesthouse is located in a peaceful, quiet area of Calibishie and about 30 minutes walking distance/ 15 minutes driving distance from the main town. The nearest supermarket, atm or souvenier shop are also about 30 minutes walking distance from the guesthouse. The exterior of the guesthouse is well landscaped with extremely pretty flowers and a garden. There is also a gazebo where meals are served and a hammock to lull off.

- Apartment- The Gardenia contains 2 beds- a full and a twin size (to fit 3 adults), a four chair dining set, a small couch, wares, a hot plate, kettle, toaster oven, electricity converters, 2 ceiling fans, a small fridge, mosquito nets on the doors and windows, hot and cold water. Towels were also provided. There is no ac and no television. We were given a radio to keep informed.

- Driver/ Tour guide- We did not rent a vehicle and the guest house recommended a local tour guide/ taxi driver by the name of Nigel. Nigel is polite, patient, friendly, fun, knowledgeable and the best guide you could ever ask for. We recommend him.

Cons:

- There were cats hanging about the gazebo where meals were being served. Make sure and cater for allergies.

- Water pressure reduces/ goes from the room whenever water is being used outside. Water went several times during our stay.

Despite the cons, that didn't affect the quality of our stay and the experience was fantastic. Thank you Carol Ann, Nicky and Nigel for an enjoyable vacation.

Room Tip: Select the upper apartment.

If you ever find yourself in Calibishie Dominica there is a guest house called the Jacoway Inn that you must stay at. Carol Anne is hands down the best hostess on the island! Her charming attitude and friendly hospitality is like a breath of fresh Dominican air!..Thank you Carol for making my trip a very memorable one!

Room Tip: Carol owns the Buttercup Bakery in the village of Calibishie, so get ready for some tempting treats!

Jacoway Inn is one of those places that remind me of a fairy tale. When you drive up to their property, you see an instant and dramatic change of view. It's like you were watching black and white tv, then suddenly there was color! The beauty of the place is breath-taking, with all of the various exotic flowers, flowering shrubs, flowering trees, not to mention the huge mango tree that lives alongside your window. Then there are the host and hostess with the mostest. Nicki is a local fellow with a winning personality and a smile that will brighten anyone's day! Carol Ann is a Canadian gal who became a part of the Calibishi landscape many years ago. She has owned and operated her own restaurants, and she's the best baker around...her breads and pies alone are worth the visit! They also have surf boards for those who are inclined to surf the beautiful Dominican waters. I say try it, you'll love it!

Room Tip: There is an upstairs and a downstairs. The upstairs gives you a beautiful view of the ocean.

We stayed at Jacoway Inn in Calibishie Dominica in July 2012. The guesthose rooms is very good, and the breakfast excellent with home made marmelade and home baked bread.

The wounderful owner Carrol Ann really (to 100%) knows how to take very good care of you. She made our stay in the North of Dominica to the best experience at our Dominican trip. She drowe us to great places (some unknown spots with her very "beautiful-ugly" and charming car) and made the EXTRA effort that we you appreaciated a lot.

Jacoway Inn is a great place but combined with the lovely Caroll Ann it top class! The guesthouse location is calm and the distance to the "city" is close a short walk. I very strongly recommend you and your family to choose the place its GREAT.

Our natural choice going back to Dominica would to 101% be Jackoway Inn and Carroll Ann.

We hope to come back one day Claes Gerlach, Åsa Sebelius and Ida Gerlach from Gothenburg, Sweden

Stayed 6 nights at Jacoway Inn in June 2012.
We were two adults and two children aged 4 and 1.
And to sum it up it's Carol-Ann!
She makes this place what it is and it's nothing short of perfect.
This is the place to stay if your in Dominica!
Thank you for the stay!
