“NICE LITTLE HOTEL WITH AN AMAZING VIEW FO THE CITY”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2010

We stayed at this hotel for three nights on our visit to the Dominican Republic. This is a nice little hotel up on hill in Santiago. The view is incredible!. It is very quiet.. if you are looking to stay in a clean, basic and nice little hotel this is the one. The rooms are ok. the ones on the old building are very old and outdated. When we first came in they gave us a room on the old buliding where the reception and restaurant are located. My husdband requested one on the new building wchih is right across and it was much better. The rooms are basic, but spacious, with a flat screen TV. that give it a more modern look. The bathroom could use a little updating. there was water leakign from somewhere in the room, i could not tell if it was comming from the bathroom or the ceiling( i personally didnt care much , but i knw some of my fellow travelres do) We travelled with our infant daughter, she is sixteen months, over all it was a nice stay. The lobby is really nice. they have vintage cars from the Trujillo Era. The restaurant is nice also, alot of business people and turists come over for dinner. The view is amazing!!!. The food is ok. We had breakfast and dinner. I would say for the price of $63.00 per night is worth it. The only thing is the drive up the mountain.. some people might not like it, specally at night becasue is dark. I will try to post some pictures.

We stayed two nights over a weekend. The view of Santiago is worth a night here, and the restaurant serves good food. The rooms are large and clean but spare and old. No a/c was not a problem because the air at our elevation was cool even during the day. Our biggest complaint was that a loud wedding party was held directly below us that lasted very late into the night, complete with a drunk shouting match between a couple of the party goers to cap it off at about 3 am. This was even worse than you might expect because the doors are not sealed and the sound came in freely. Kind of defeated the purpose of getting out of the city center for peace and quiet. We requested another room away from the party for the second night, which the hotel accommodated. Minus the party it wasn't a bad place to stay. However, my recommendation for tourists is to skip Santiago altogether. There is not much to do there. If you're looking for an "authentic" Dominican experience away from the mega resorts on the north coast, I would drive east past Cabarete and Rio San Juan to the area around Playa Grande. There are a few nice hotels in that part of the coast, and a much more "local" experience, but still plenty of activities to keep you busy.

We stayed there for a long weekend, 12/4-7/2009. Once you get there, it is great. The scenery is spectacular. Really romantic. Very inexpensive. Room was very large. King-sized bed was very comfortable. Room was clean. Our room did not have air conditioning, but it is really not needed with the mountain breeze. The room had an oversized balcony with a spectacular view of the valley. The hotel has not been updated in a long time and some would say that is part of its charm. There was a huge loud party (with music) in the restaurant that lasted unitl 3 AM Saturday night, which made it impossible to sleep. This may have been a Christmas-related event. So, I do not know if this is a problem every Saturday. Food in the restaurant is very good and most of the tables are outdoors under a covered patio. The main problem with this hotel is that it is impossible to find on your own if you are driving and have not been there before. We flew into Santiago and the rent-a-car clerk tried to give us directions, but we became lost anyway. I finally was able to call a taxi and we followed the cab to the hotel. The hotel did not answer e-mails in advance asking for directions.

Our stay here was wonderful. It is fairly inexpensive, it is in a wonderful secluded area that is not too far from town (a five minute drive at the most), and the best part is the view. My husband and I loved staying our two nights here. The staff is also very courteous. I think that people should know that the rooms are nothing to brag about. The hotel was built about 20 years ago and I am sure it has not been updated. There was quite a bit of mold in the bathroom and the air conditioner is huge and also loud. We did stay cool and enjoyed the view from our porch. We would definately stay there again.

I had read the few positive reviews on Trip Advisor about this hotel, so I decided to book a 2-night stay there. Boy, am I glad I did!

Santiago is a fairly chaotic city with not many nice accommodations to choose from. This little gem, tucked away on the mountain overlooking the Cibao Valley, is just precious.

Dining on the patio of the hotel's restaurant is an absolute must, particularly at dusk, when the valley lights up down below. The view is breathtaking, the food is really tastey, and the staff is super friendly.

The rooms are incredibly spacious and quite clean. There is nothing exceptionally fancy about them, but the hotel does go out of its way to make you feel at home. On the second day, we came back to a made-up bed complete with these lovely pink flowers sprinkled all over the blanket. It was such a nice and unexpected touch.

Checking in and out was a breeze. Parking was ample and safe. The grounds are monitored by security 24 hours a day.

The only drawback to this place is finding it. This proved to be challenging and we had to tap into local talent to get there. Once we figured out the way, then it was a breeze to get in and out of Santiago...but it is a good 15-20 minute drive down the mountain and into the city.

All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to travel to Santiago. Singles, couples, families. This hotel is appropriate for all. I highly recommend it and would definitely stay there again.

FANTASTIC! I live in the DR and I have yet to find a better city view. The restaurant was amazing and so was the staff. Our room was huge and worth every penny. If seclusion and relaxation are what you are looking for, then this is the place for you.

  • Liked — Breathtaking view
  • Disliked — The location is up the mountain and a bit out of the way
